Madelyn was up early. She went to get her youngest son who was fussing over the monitor. She carried him out of the room quickly so that he wouldn't wake the other two babies. She got him settled with a bottle before having to repeat the routine with Myles. She sat on the couch with both boys in her arms when Mckynna began to scream upstairs. She had no way to go get her without the boys screaming. She had to wait to see if Marshall would wake up to the screams over the monitor.
Both boys finished eating and were burped so she lay them down and went to get her crying daughter. She couldn't believe that Marshall had completely slept through it all. Mckynna's little face was completely red from crying. Madelyn held her close and calmed her before changing her diaper and going to get a bottle. Both of the older boys were up now and wanted to eat since they had been woken by Mckynna's screaming.
"Go wake daddy up," Madelyn told Maverick.
The older boy ran off up the stairs to get his father. Malakai lay on the floor by her feet and whined as she fed his sister. She sighed heavily. Maverick came back down the stairs.
"Mama, daddy didn't wake up," he said.
"Are you freaking kidding me right now," she sighed.
Once Mckynna was done and she had the boys eating, she went up to see what was going on with her husband. He rolled over and looked at her as she walked in the door.
"Really?" she asked.
"What?" he smiled at her.
"I couldn't get a little freakin help this morning?"
"You had it all under control."
"Marshall we are under quarantine right now. I will gladly tell them the virus took your ass out."
He chuckled at her. She wasn't laughing. She was beyond pissed.
"It's not funny. I could have used some damn help. I had both boys when Mckynna woke up. I wasn't fucking ignoring her. What the hell is your problem this morning?" she demanded.
"Nothing babe," he got up from their bed.
She turned and walked out before he could grab her to pull her into his arms. She was mad and she was going to stay that way. Whitney stuck her head out of the bedroom door.
"You guys good?" she asked.
"Fine," Madelyn replied, walking down the stairs.
She took care of the kids for the rest of the day without a word to her husband. He wanted to be childish about her asking for a little bit of help taking care of the five kids he had helped her make then she was going to do it all alone and not ask him for anything. She was going to prove that she didn't need him.
She set up an assembly line on the babies as they were all in high chairs for lunch. She fed all three at the same time while the older two ate. The babies went down for a nap as did Malakai so she sat down with Maverick to work on his colors and shapes as well as a few other academic things.
"Babe, I'm going down to the studio if you need me," Marshall said.
She completely ignored him while she was keeping an eye on what Maverick was doing. She had just begun sight word books with him that she had ordered online. He loved learning and she was going to foster that for as long as she could. Whitney joined them at the table with her laptop so she could work on her own school work. Madelyn set up abcmouse.com for Maverick once he was done with his sight word book. He looked over at his sister.
"Mama, I'm big just like Whitters," he said.
"You sure are bud," she replied.
She let him play on the computer for a while and then had to go get the babies as they began waking up from their naps. She was changing Myles when Whitney appeared in the doorway.
"What did dad do this time?" she asked.
"What makes you think he did something?" Madelyn asked her.
"You aren't talking to him. He hasn't helped with the little kids at all today."
"It's nothing Whit. Don't worry about it."
"Mads, I know you're mad at him."
"It's fine. We are fine. Have you finished your homework?"
Whitney nodded. Madelyn lifted Myles from the changing table and carried him down to the playroom. She spent majority of the afternoon in the play room with the kids. Malakai had taken to building Lego towers. He wanted her to see how high he could make them. She smiled at him as she watched with Matthew in her lap.
"Madelyn," Marshall appeared in the doorway.
She didn't even look up from the excited look on her young son's face.
"Mads, come on, you can't be that mad," he said, glancing at the kids in the room.
She glanced at him but didn't respond to him.
"Baby, I literally only woke up when you came in the room. I never heard Mckynna this morning and I don't know what else I was supposed to hear but I didn't." he said.
She rolled her eyes. She was being childish now but she didn't care. Being stuck in the house because of the stupid virus was beginning to work her nerves. She didn't like being told what to do. She didn't like it when someone told her she had to do something or had to stay somewhere.
"It's nice out, why don't we take the kids outback to play," he said.
"Fine," she replied, finally.
"Hey, I love you,"
"I love you too."
"We will make it through this chaos we call life. I know we will babe."
She rolled her eyes and handed Matthew to him so she could stand up from the floor. He kissed her before she moved to pick up the other two babies.
