It was the first time they were really leaving the house and it was for a doctor's appointment. The media had died down mostly due to them not leaving their house in two weeks. He drove to the office. They were having their first sonogram today. It was also special because it was Maverick's first birthday.

"You ready for this?" Marshall asked.
"I am," she smiled.

They walked out to the car. Marshall loaded Maverick into his seat. He giggled at his dad. Madelyn climbed into the passenger seat. Marshall drove them to the doctor's office. He was excited about this. She walked into the office and got checked in. He found a seat with their son. They didn't wait long because she had Marshall with her.

They were set up in the sonogram room. She lay back on the table while the technician got everything set up. He stood next to her with Maverick in his arms.

"All right buddy. Ready to see the new baby?" he asked.

Maverick gave a little head nod which brought a smile to their faces. It wasn't long before the sound of a whooshing heartbeat filled the room. Madelyn looked up at Marshall to gauge his reaction. He had a smile on his face. He shifted Maverick to one arm so he could take Madelyn's hand.

"That's our baby?" he asked the tech.
"Right there," she said, pointing it out to him.
"Wow. Babe, we made that."
"It's crazy huh?" Madelyn said.
"Insane," Marshall replied.
"Another perfect Mathers baby."

He grinned. They left the tech's room with a few pictures of their baby. They were led to an exam room. The doctor came in shortly after they got into the room.

"Good morning to you both," she smiled when she walked in.
"Morning Dr. Thomas," Madelyn smiled.
"How are you feeling this go round?"
"Really really tired."
"That's to be expected."
"I spent a lot of our vacation napping when Maverick did."

Dr. Thomas nodded. She made a note of it as Madelyn got her vitals checked. He stood off to one side with his now squirming son. Maverick was completely over it and ready to go.

"Hey birthday boy, calm down. We gotta get mama checked out," Marshall told him.
"Oh that's right it is Maverick's birthday today," Dr. Thomas smiled.

She pulled out a sucker for him. It was able to pacify him while Marshall ended up sticky from holding him while he ate it.

"Everything looks good and in about 32 weeks we should have a baby," Dr. Thomas smiled.
"Thank you," Madelyn said.
"Of course."

Marshall felt his nerves settle in. He knew there was a lot to do and to him 32 weeks sounded like nothing. Madelyn looked over at him. She could see him working himself up. She reached out and put a hand on his arm.

"We got this," she said.

He nodded. He knew she was right.

"Are you guys going to find out what you are having this time?" Dr. Thomas asked.
"Not sure honestly," she said.

Dr. Thomas nodded. She knew they had a lot to discuss. She remembered seeing Madelyn alone the first couple appointments when she was expecting her first child. She was happy for them that Marshall was there this time.

"All right, I will see you again in about a month. In the meantime do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have," she said.

Madelyn nodded. They got their paperwork and left the office. He loaded Maverick into his seat. They went to the house and ordered some lunch. Madelyn lay down for a nap afterward. Marshall took Maverick down to their in house studio. He kept his boy occupied until he fell asleep. Then he began really working on the new album.
