Marshall stayed with his arms wrapped around his wife. She had calmed down but stared at her son. The doctor came into the room. He looked at the parents who both looked shattered. Madelyn glanced over at him.

"Matthew is doing well now. We will do some testing in the morning to verify things. Have you heard of the owlette sock?" he asked.

Madelyn nodded.

"I strongly recommend getting one for at least Matthew. He is a triplet, correct?" the doctor asked.
"Yes," Marshall finally spoke.
"You may want to invest in one per child. Are you planning any more?"

Marshall shook his head. Madelyn sighed heavily. She looked up at her husband. His arm was wrapped tightly around her shoulders. She remained silent. It only made the controlling rumors look that much more truthful.

The doctor left the room, leaving them alone with the baby. Marshall sat in a chair in the room. Madelyn remained right next to this son. She had her finger in his tiny little hand. He looked so tiny on the bed. She didn't like any of this. She didn't like the feeling she had bubbling in her stomach of anger toward her husband. He had apologized but she didn't care. She was still mad at him. He hadn't said a word to her when they were headed toward the ER. She had just been dragged from her chair.

"Mads," he said quietly.

She shook her head. She wasn't done being mad yet. He sighed.

"Madelyn, look at me," he said.
"Marshall, just stop. Please?" she begged.
"Baby, I didn't mean any of it. I promise."
"You have never been like that. Not since we have been married. I just don't get it."
"Babe, I was scared. All Nate said over the phone was to meet him in the ER and it was Matthew. I didn't have any answers for you. I didn't know what was going on."
"But that makes it ok?"
"No it doesn't and I'm sorry. Madelyn, you know how much I love you."

She nodded slightly. He stood up from his seat.

"Come on babe. I'm not trying to fight with you," he said.
"I'm not either, Marshall," she replied.
"So stop being mad at me."
"I'm not mad. I just don't get why shit like this keeps happening to us."
"Babe, if shit like this didn't happen to us, people would believe we were fake as hell. It keeps us humble."
"Our kids shouldn't have to pay for it all."
"I know babe,"

He slipped his arm gently around her waist. She leaned into him slightly. He kissed the side of her head.

"We will make it thru this. Matthew will be all right. Order that sock thing he was just talking about for all three of them." he said.

She chuckled slightly. She pulled her phone out to show him what the doctor was talking about. She pulled up a video. He watched it. He looked at his wife.

"Why haven't we had one of these already?" he asked, curiously.
"Maverick and Kai were healthy," she said.
"Babe,"
"I just never thought about it honestly."
"Well order 3 of them."

She nodded. She placed the order and screen shot the confirmation of it. He looked down at his son. He pulled out his own phone. A picture of their boy made its way to his Twitter and Instagram asking for prayers for their little man. It was hard as a parent to watch your child struggle. He realized after he posted it that he hadn't spoken to the girls.

He shot out a quick text to them about it. He had to be in LA soon for Fifty's star reveal. He was hoping that Matthew was home by then. Madelyn sighed.

Matthew came home a few days later and Marshall flew out on a plane for LA. He was only gone for the day. He gave his speech and then returned to Detroit on his private jet to be with his wife and kids. Matthew was doing much better. He entered the house extremely late that night. He walked by the nursery and found his wife asleep in the rocking chair. He sighed and entered the room. He lifted her from the chair and carried her bridal style down to their room. He lay her in their bed and stripped to his boxers before joining her. She rolled over and snuggled into him.

"I love you," she mumbled.
"I love you too," he pressed a kiss to her forehead.

He held her close and closed his eyes. It was peaceful being at home. He loved every minute of being with them.

Flashback

Marshall lay awake in the hotel room. It was still completely unbelievable to him that his girl would be joining him on this tour. She hadn't wanted to be away from him and he hated being away from her.

"Just one more night. She will be here tomorrow," he said out loud to the empty room.

His mind still raced wondering how he managed to get Madelyn. She was incredible. She was young but a lot of fun and his girls loved her. He gave up on trying to sleep and picked up his phone.

Marshall: you awake?
Madelyn: can't sleep either?
Marshall: no, i miss you
Madelyn: i miss you too. I cant wait to see you tomorrow
Marshall: me either babe
Madelyn: how did i get so lucky
Marshall: nah beautiful, im the lucky one here.
Madelyn: lol
Marshall: you better try to sleep cuz you aint gettin none tomorrow.
Madelyn:oh yeah
Marshall: oh yeah i got things to make up for

He didn't want her to be tired for the trip. He smiled in the dark.

The next morning, he was up when the knock came on his door. He walked toward it and pulled it open. She grinned and jumped into his arms. He wrapped his arms around her waist while she wrapped her legs around his waist.

He pressed a heated kiss to her lips and walked backward into the bedroom. Paul set her suitcase in the door and walked out. The moment the door slammed shut, Marshall pulled away from her to stare at her for a minute.

"Holy shit," he said.
"What?" she grinned.
"I just can't believe that you are here."

She giggled. He dropped her on the bed and quickly crawled over her body.

End

Sleeping with that memory in his brain made things a lot easier for Marshall. It was peaceful in their house for once.
