They were up early to go get breakfast at one of the buffets. Marshall had put in reservations for dinner that night. He slipped his hand into his wife's as they walked to the buffet. She smiled.

"How are you feeling this morning?" he asked.
"I am good," she said.
"Good. I worry about you sometimes. I don't want anything to happen to you or our baby."
"Me either babe."

They walked into the restaurant. He told the hostess that it was just the two of them. They were lead to a table and their drink orders taken. They both got up and went to get food. Madelyn was back at the table first. She sat down and began to eat. Marshall had been extra clingy and she noticed it. She wondered what was going on with him. He came back and sat down. She stared at him for a moment.

"What?" he asked.
"Are you all right?" she asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"You just seem off this morning. Talk to me babe."
"Just had a bad dream last night. That's all."
"Wanna tell me about it?"
"Not right now."
"Baby."

He shook his head. She sighed. They would be discussing it though. She would make sure of it. He ate his food, feeling her eyes on him. He sighed.

"I will tell you, I promise," he said.

She nodded. She was content to eat knowing that he would tell her. They ate the rest of their meal in silence. It was weird for her but whatever this dream was, it was definitely affecting him negatively.

They headed back to their room after they ate. Madelyn sat on the bed. He sat next to her and pulled her into his arms.

Dream:

Marshall stood in the bright hallway of the hospital. He had just been kicked out of the room while Madelyn was giving birth. She had begun hemorrhaging and they were trying to stop the bleeding. He watched as they rushed two babies from the room. He was scared that he was about to lose his wife. He slid down the wall to the floor. His head was in his hands.

"Dad," Hailie walked over to him.

He looked up at her, tears rolling down his face. She was a reflection of him as tears rolled down her face as well. Hailie dropped to her knees next to him and held him as he cried.

"I can't lose her," he sobbed.
"I know Dad," she whispered.
"They have saved two of the babies."
"I saw them go by. They are tiny."

He nodded. He heard the door slam closed as they brought out another incubator. He stared at it as they slowly walked down the hall. The other two they had rushed by with. He saw the blanket across the top of this one. He didn't even know what to say or do at this point.

End

He had woken up at that point. He had been shaking and just pulled his wife closer to him. He had been trying to shake it all morning.

"Oh baby," she turned into him and clung to him.

He hadn't even noticed that tears ran down his face until she reached up to wipe them away. He pressed his lips to hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I am not going anywhere" she said.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Honestly no but you got this."
"I can't do any of this without you."

She held him tightly. He rested his head against her chest. He held her around the waist. She stroked his head and kissed the top of it.

"I love you Madelyn," he said.
"I love you too, Marshall," she replied.
"It was just a scary thought that I could lose you."
"I know babe. I am sorry you even had that dream. I wish I could take it away from you."
"I will be all right. Just knowing you are with me is more than enough."

He kissed her breast. She closed her eyes. He smiled.

"Enough with the sad shit, let's go relax by the pool or on the beach," he said.

She nodded. They changed into swim suits and headed out of the room. She held his hand in hers. He smiled as they walked.

"Want something to drink?" he asked.
"Sure," she said.

He went to get her something. She found them two chairs to relax on for the day. He came back and handed her the Coke. She took a dip in the pool and then headed back to her chair. He did the same. She watched him for a moment.

"Did you call the kids today?" she asked.
"Talked to the girls this morning," he said, "was waiting on you to call the boys."
"Aww you are so sweet."
"Some days,"

He laughed. She grinned. They called to check in on their boys. He couldn't get the dream out of his head. It scared him completely. He was trying to pretend that he was all right so that Madelyn wouldn't worry about him.
