AN: sorry I haven't been updating as often. Life has been keeping me down and it's hard to write about a happy family when you aren't feeling happy yourself. Writing is my outlet but sometimes I am just not feeling it. I thank everyone for their continued support reading this story. Comments and votes make my days a bit better. If I know that I am making you all happy by giving you this to read, I am a bit happier.
Marshall woke on his own birthday to breakfast in bed with his kids. The older boys were so excited to surprise him. He sat up on the bed. Madelyn set the tray down for him. He kissed her lips.
"Happy birthday handsome," she said.
"Thank you babe," he replied.
"Daddy, we helped make your breakfast," Maverick said.
"You did?"
Maverick nodded. Malakai was staring at the tray. Madelyn laughed at her younger son.
"Listen here, lil man, you already ate your breakfast. That's daddy's breakfast," she said.
Malakai nodded. Marshall chuckled at his son.
"Come here bud, you can help daddy eat it," he said.
Malakai giggled as he crawled up next to his dad. He stole a grape from the tray. Madelyn shook her head.
"It's amazing to me that he doesn't weigh like a hundred pounds already with as much as he eats," she said.
"He has a high metabolism like his daddy," Marshall joked.
"It's cuz he doesn't sit still ever."
She laughed. Malakai made a face at his mom. She grinned. The triplets weren't awake yet. They had a big day the day before so they were exhausted.
"Did you ever think life would be like this?" he asked her.
She shook her head. He smiled. She looked at their boys. She had never imagined when she met Marshall that they would be married and have five kids together. She definitely never thought it would happen after all the drama and the fighting they had done.
"Hey, I love you, Mads," he said.
"I love you too," she replied.
A screech from down the hall erupted causing her to leave the room. She walked down to the nursery where the babies were. Matthew was standing in his crib. Madelyn smiled when she saw him.
"Good morning my handsome boy," she said.
He began to babble away to her. She lifted him from bed and changed his diaper. She held off on changing his clothes as Myles began to stir in his bed. It wasn't long before she had both Mckynna and Myles babbling at her. She chuckled and pulled the babies from their beds and changed them. She took them downstairs to feed them breakfast. They were ready to eat. She tore up some pancakes for them and gave them some cut up strawberries. Marshall came down the stairs with the older two boys.
"You didn't have to get up yet. I would have came back for it," she said.
"Beautiful, you do so much for us all already. Getting up is fine," he replied.
"It's your birthday."
"It's just another day, love."
She made a face at him. He shook his head at her and kissed her cheek. He knew she was annoyed with him.
"You can make it up to me tonight, gorgeous," he whispered in her ear.
She smiled and pushed him away.
"You're so bad," she said.
"You love it," he replied.
"I definitely do,"
He smirked at her. She turned toward the three high chairs lined up in their kitchen. The babies were completely enjoying their breakfast.
"Mama's a good cook, huh babies?" he asked.
"Thanks babe," Madelyn replied.
They spent the day relaxing with the kids. The babies had therapy. They were progressing well and had been told they would be caught up by the time they turned three.
Madelyn didn't even want to think about them turning three yet. She was still struggling with them being a year already.
"What's wrong mama?" Marshall asked.
"I just can't believe they are a year old already," she said.
"I know babe. It's all right though. You know eventually we get grandkids right?"
"Oh lord, not even remotely something I want to think about right now."
Marshall laughed. Madelyn was turning 34 in another month. She had no thought on talking about grandkids. It was more of a reality for him because he was now almost fifty.
It was weird to him to be thinking about that when his wife was not even close to being forty and he had three toddlers. It was normal in the celebrity world but it wasn't normal for him.
"You ok?" she asked.
"Yeah, just thinking," he said.
"About what?"
"The reality that I'm getting old and I'm raising toddlers."
Madelyn nodded. She knew he struggled with the idea of their age difference a lot. She sighed. He pulled her down to the couch next to him.
"I wouldn't change a thing at this point. I love you guys. You keep me young," he said.
She smiled and pressed a kiss to his cheek. He nuzzled his face down into her shoulder. She laughed at him.
"Mama, are we going trick or treating?" Maverick asked.
"I think we are just gonna have people over here for Halloween this year baby," she said.
"Can we still dress up?"
"Of course you can."
He grinned and ran off. She shook her head. Marshall chuckled.
"Family costume again this year?" he asked.
"I don't know. Depends on the boys and what they want," she said.
He nodded. They had only a bit to be able to plan it all. She would have to start on it that day. Marshall's phone was blowing up with notifications for his birthday. She looked at him.
"Have you heard from your mom today?" Madelyn asked.
He shook his head. She nodded. He got up and headed downstairs to the studio. She sat there wondering if she had hit a nerve again. She didn't mean to and knew that she needed to deal with it. She got up and walked downstairs.
"Marshall," she said.
"I'm fine, Mads," he replied.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I am. I heard from Nate and the girls this morning. That's all I really need other than you guys."
She put her arms around his neck.
"I love you so much," she said.
"I love you too," he replied.
She pressed a kiss to his lips. He smiled.
