Another big day arrived for their little family. Marshall dropped his second album of the year. He still remained at home with his wife and his kids. He looked at his wife the morning the album dropped. She was asleep on their bed. None of the kids were awake yet. He lay in bed next to her thinking about everything they had been thru in the last year. The babies being in the hospital, his earlier album dropping, the chaos of having the three babies at the same time and the quarantine. He sighed softly and attempted to go back to sleep. It escaped him as it sometimes did. He slid from the bed and pulled on a pair of sweats.
"Baby, where are you going?" his wife's sleepy voice asked.
"Go back to sleep, babe. I just can't sleep. I didn't want to wake you," he said.
"Marshall."
"I am all right, Mads. I promise."
She yawned a bit. He leaned down to kiss her lips before leaving the bedroom. She would most likely fall back to sleep. He gently closed their door behind him.
He walked down the hall to the stairs and went to the living room. He was shocked to find his five year old on the couch watching cartoons.
"Mave, what are you doing?" he asked.
"Daddy, how come Calleigh doesn't like me anymore?" the little boy asked.
"I don't know bub. I don't know her."
"But daddy, she is so pretty."
"Mave, I can't give you an answer on why nothing is going your way with this little girl. Don't you have other friends in your class?"
"Yeah, but daddy, I really like her."
"Unfortunately big man, things don't always go the way that we want them to nor should they."
"Why?"
"Because if I would have stayed with Kim, I would have never met mommy and we would have never had you, Kai, Myles, Matt, or Kynna."
Maverick sighed heavily. Marshall pulled his son into his lap. He brushed the boys curls back with his hand.
"Things have a way of working out the way they are supposed to no matter how we feel about it at the time," he said.
"Daddy, are we ever gonna have friends over ever again?" Maverick asked.
"I hope so, bud. I really do."
Maverick nodded. He stared at the television screen as it played an old Spongebob cartoon. Marshall sat on the couch with his son until the little boy fell asleep. Then he carried him up the stairs to his room. He tucked him in under the covers before deciding to go lay down with his wife again.
Madelyn snuggled back into his chest as he lay next to her. She was asleep again. He lay there with his arm around her waist.
"You ok babe?" she asked surprising him.
"Yeah, Mave was actually awake," he said.
"He ok?"
"I guess the whole Calleigh thing is still bothering him."
"I hate that I can't just fix it for him."
"He will be fine babe. He is a Mathers after all."
Madelyn rolled her eyes at his choice of words. She rolled over to face him and kiss his lips. He deepened it and rolled so she was under him.
"I love you Madelyn Nicole," he said.
"I love you too," she replied slightly breathless.
"Thank you for always believing in me babe,"
"You are the Rap God babe."
He chuckled before closing his eyes and pulling her closer. She snuggled into his chest, closing her own eyes.
"Good night beautiful," he said.
"Goodnight handsome," she yawned.
They both went back to sleep. They knew the babies would be up early and Madelyn would have her work cut out for her.
She fell asleep knowing that her day was just one more in the fantasy life she never dreamed she could have. She was just doing her best every day to make it as normal as possible for the kids. She would continue to do everything that she could to make their fantasy life normal.
The End
************************
Well there we go. I know the ending isn't the best but I plan on a sequel being posted shortly. It will be a bit farther in the future for the family. I thank everyone for sticking with me. I do have another Eminem story already going called The Youngest Mathers. I will start on the sequel today and hopefully get it posted quickly.
