Madelyn loved having them all down there with her and the kids. She appreciated that Marshall was spending time with the kids and was trying to show her just how sorry he was with his actions. He was laying next to his son on the beach when his phone went off. He picked it up. His eyes quickly went to his wife before he answered it.
"Hey Superman," it was Dina.
"What do you want?" he asked coldly.
"Figured you would want to try again at this point. Tabloids say your wife left you."
"Funny cuz I'm looking at my wife right now. What happened was a mistake that I should have never made."
"That isn't what you said that day."
"Because I was mad. I love my wife."
The girl huffed over the phone. He rolled his eyes. Madelyn sat next to him on the blanket. He reached out with one hand to take her hand. She smiled. She was trying to keep the peace. He got off the phone and called Paul to change his number again. He wasn't going to deal with her calling him while he was trying to fix his relationship with his wife. She was just watching him.
"Dina," he said.
She nodded but he could see her beginning to pull away from him.
"I am having Paul change my number so she can't call and there is an NDA in place," he said.
She nodded. He reached for her hand again.
"Babe, no secrets. I promise." he said.
"Marshall," she said.
"Madelyn, the truth is what you get. I am not going to lie to you about anything. I am going to tell you everything I do, every person that I talk to."
She nodded. The honesty was refreshing to her. Marshall wondered if she would even let him kiss her.
"Marshall,"she began.
"Can I?" he asked gently.
She nodded slightly. He leaned over and gently kissed her lips. She pulled him closer. The emotion taking over. He pulled away and stared at her.
"Are we going to fix this?" he asked.
"I don't know, I have something I think may help but I don't know how you will react." she said.
"What?"
"If I go on a date with someone else."
His face clouded over. She just watched him. He didn't know what to think. He hated the idea of her with anyone else but he would do whatever it took to bring her home.
"What happens if you fall for someone else?" he asked, fear actually creeping into his voice.
"It's something I need to do. I mean I love you but I need to know what is going on with us," she said.
"Mads."
Marshall was terrified of the thought that he could actually lose his wife over this. He didn't know what he would do without her. He looked at his son that was sleeping on the blanket with them. The girls had the other two babies down by the ocean.
"Madelyn, I won't lie, I don't like this idea," he said.
"Marshall, I have to do something," she said.
"I know but does it have to be this?"
"I don't know what else to do."
Marshall nodded. She wanted to be single for a bit. He was going to have to allow it because of his mess up. It was something that the therapist had told him that he would have to do. He nodded his head at his wife.
