Marshall woke up on his couch with his wife in his arms. He felt like someone was staring at him and it slightly creeped him out. He opened his eyes to find his three year old staring at him. He smiled at his son.
"What are you doing bud?" he asked.
"Mommy," Malakai whined at him.
"Mommy's sleeping. What do you need?"
"Mommy."
"Kai, what's wrong?"
The little boy rubbed his eyes and shook his head. He started to cry. Marshall untangled himself from his wife and pulled Malakai into his lap. It didn't take long for his sobbing to wake Madelyn.
"What's wrong baby?" she asked their son.
"Mommy," he sobbed in his father's arms.
"What happened handsome?"
He launched himself from his father's lap into his mother's lap. She cuddled him while Marshall sat next to them. He hated that he hadn't been able to calm his son.
"Did you have a nightmare bud?" she asked, softly.
He nodded his little head as tears ran down his face. Marshall was in complete awe with how his wife had handled their children. Malakai was completely huddled into his wife's lap and snuggled as close as he could get. She smiled at her husband as she kept her arms wrapped around their son. He smiled at her.
"Buddy, nothing is going to get you. I promise," Marshall told their boy.
"No daddy," Malakai said.
"No what?"
"Was your nightmare about something happening to daddy?" Madelyn asked.
Malakai nodded. Marshall pulled both his wife and his son into his lap. He snuggled up with them both on the couch. Malakai was snuggled in between them.
"Daddy isn't going anywhere bud," Marshall promised.
Malakai looked up at him and smiled. He moved to wrap his arms around his dad's neck and hugged him as tight as his little arms could. Marshall kissed his son's little head as he finally calmed down. Madelyn put on a movie that was kid appropriate so that Malakai could watch it.
"Babe," Marshall said.
"What?" she asked.
"You think he'll be ok?"
"Yeah babe, he'll be fine."
He nodded. He got up from the couch and headed for the stairs.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Gonna head to the gym for a bit. You want to come? He's doing ok with his movie," he said.
"Babe."
"What?"
"Nothing."
He gave her a funny look but headed up to get changed into basketball shorts and a beater before going down to their in home gym. He was thankful they had it so that he could work out at home. Maverick was awake by the time he was done. The boys were itching to get outside so he took a quick shower and suggested they go outside to play. It had both older boys running for the door. He scooped up Myles and Matthew while she got Mckynna. It really felt like the days were beginning to run together on them. This whole quarantine thing was driving Marshall completely crazy. He loved his family but being forced to be at home was irritating him.
"You doing ok?" Madelyn asked, as she lightly pushed Mckynna on the swing.
"Yeah, I'm good. Just some cabin fever," he said.
"I know it all sucks. But we will make it through this ridiculous virus babe."
"I love you Mads, but we are so going on a vacation out of this damn city the moment that this stuff is over,"
She chuckled. He stared at the kids. The two older boys were climbing up the play set to the slide. They were making it a point to get the kids out as much as they could. They were doing everything they could to combat the cabin fever with everyone. He pulled his wife to him while they were watching the kids. Maverick clambered up the rock wall to the slide. Malakai tried to follow him and slipped. Marshall scooped him up from the ground where he was crying.
"It's all right bud," he said.
Once he was calmed, he ran back to play with his brother again. Marshall just shook his head and chuckled. He looked at his wife. She was just watching him.
"Have you checked in on your brother and the other kids?" she asked.
"Not today," he said.
She nodded. His phone went off in his pocket. She chuckled. He pulled it out to answer it.
"What's up," he asked.
She just watched him while he talked trying to figure out who he was talking to. He turned to go in the house, leaving her with all of the kids. She shook her head. He came back out of the house after his phone call. She looked at him.
"Hailie was just checking in on everyone," he said.
"How's she doing?" she asked him.
"They're doing good over there. She's still posting on Instagram and Twitter I guess."
Madelyn nodded. They had been avoiding majority of the social media craziness since his Mike Tyson interview.
"Wanna know what she found is trending on Twitter?" he asked.
"What?" she asked him.
"Apparently some politician misspelled martial and now Marshall Law is trending."
"Oh lord. When are these politicians ever going to learn?"
"Who knows but it's amusing. Now people think I have a new album coming out."
Madelyn cracked up laughing. He shook his head with a smile on his face. The things people came up with were entertaining. He pulled her to him with one arm and pressed a kiss to her lips.
"Damn babe, the one thing I will never get tired of, is you. I can't get enough," he smiled.
"I love you," she said, slipping her arms around his neck.
He kissed her again before they were split apart by a screeching baby. She chuckled and moved to lightly swing her daughter again.
