Madelyn woke up alone. It was normal for her. Marshall was always in one of the rooms in the basement. They had argued again about something petty. It was coming from cabin fever. Not enough time apart for them. She was completely frustrated with the situation even though he had absolutely no control over it. Her best bet was to avoid him for a bit and just let it die down. She had been online and seen him entertaining things that he should have bit in the ass the minute they began from people. She was more hurt than anything and he had gone on the defensive claiming it was nothing. She had cried herself to sleep and wicked thoughts ran thru her mind.
"Morning," Whitney came into the kitchen.
"Morning Whit," Madelyn mumbled.
"Where's dad?"
Madelyn shrugged. She went to get the babies up as they began to fuss. She needed this all to be done so she could get away for a bit. She needed to escape. She obviously wasn't enough for him anymore. Who could blame him, she had had five kids and was struggling to get back into shape after the triplets.
She stared at the triplets for a moment and terrified herself with the thoughts running thru her head. She loved her children. She wondered how different this all would be without the three babies. Then resumed hating herself for even thinking it.
A shadow over took the doorway. She glanced back but said nothing as her husband entered the room. He picked up Myles and began to change him. She had already changed Matthew and was changing Mckynna.
"So you still aren't talking to me?" he asked her.
She picked Matthew and Mckynna up before leaving the room without a word in his direction. He sighed heavily and looked at his son.
"Daddy screwed up, buddy," he said.
The infant stared up at him. Marshall scooped him up and left the room. He sat in the living room to give Myles a bottle. Madelyn sat opposite of him with the other two babies. She refused to even look at him. He stared down at his son trying to figure out just what the hell had happened the night before.
Flashback
Marshall walked out of the bathroom after his shower. He looked at his wife who sat on their bed with his phone in hands.
"Is this how you really feel?" she asked quietly.
"What do you mean?" he asked cautiously.
"You want to jump Robyn?"
"Baby, it's just a joke."
"I don't find the humor in that or the pictures Curtis sent you."
"Jesus so you're just going thru my entire phone now?"
"No, they popped up while you were in the shower. And you're in luck. Robyn says she is down."
Madelyn tossed his phone down on the bed and left the room. He sighed and pulled on boxers and a pair of sweats. He went to find his wife. She was in the theater room, head in her hands and sobbing. He pulled her into his chest and held her. She shoved him away.
"As soon as this shit is lifted, I will find a place for me and the kids. You can be free to do what you want," she sniffed.
"Madelyn, you ain't leaving me," he said.
"Yes I am. It's what you want."
"You want to go, fine. But you ain't taking my damn kids. So make your fuckin choice. I ain't got time to fuckin coddle you over some damn jokes."
