AN: Chromebook has arrived, but I got bad news yesterday about my father in law so I apologize now if my updates are sporadic.
Marshall woke with his arms wrapped around his wife. She was still peacefully sleeping. He smiled and gently kissed her forehead. She stirred slightly. He listened to the quiet that surrounded them. He was just waiting for that scream to have them both up.
"Good morning, handsome," Madelyn was watching him.
"Hey beautiful," he replied.
"I love waking up to this,"
"What?"
"Wrapped up in your arms."
"My favorite too babe."He kissed her forehead again. She snuggled into him more. A scream went up from down the hall. She groaned a bit. He chuckled.
"You get him, while I shower and then I will get the other two," she said.
"All right babe," he replied. She got up from their bed and headed to the bathroom. He pulled on basketball shorts and headed down to get their screaming baby. She took her time in the shower and was ready when their daughter woke up crying. She went to get her. Mckynna stared up at her from the crib.
"Good morning beautiful," she smiled as she lifted her daughter from the crib.
She changed her daughter's diaper and headed down to get her a bottle. Marshall was sitting on a chair in the kitchen with Matthew in his arms. She smiled. He also had the two older boys in the room with him eating breakfast as well. Maverick looked up at her. She smiled at him.
"Sleep well?" she asked her boys.
Maverick nodded his head. Malakai ignored her as he ate his breakfast. The little boy was not a morning person, which typically made his parents laugh. She sat down with Mckynna in her arms and gave her the bottle. Myles had been enjoying his sleep as he was the last one fed the night before. Marshall looked tired still.
"Babe, you gonna make it over there?" Madelyn asked.
"Yeah I'll be fine," he yawned.
She shook her head. He smiled. She looked down at their daughter. Her husband's bright blue eyes stared back up at her. It was really the only part of Marshall that showed through with their daughter. She smiled. Both Matthew and Mckynna looked like her with Marshall's eyes. Myles looked just like his older brothers which both looked like mini versions of their father. The only difference with Myles was that he had Madelyn's eyes. Marshall looked up at the stairs as Myles began to scream. Madelyn got up from her seat. She lay Mckynna down in the swing with the bottle propped up so that she could go get her son. She changed him and made her way back down the stairs to get him a bottle as well.
"You ok?" Marshall asked.
Madelyn nodded. She got the bottle and then settled herself in the living room with both babies and managed to handle two bottles at the same time. Marshall stood in the doorway still holding Matthew.
"Super mom," he said.
"Shut up," she laughed.
Her phone went off and she looked like a deer in headlights. She stared at the two babies trying to figure out how she was going to answer her phone as well as feed them both. It had stopped ringing by the time she decided to just forgo answering it. She would call whomever it was back later. Marshall finished with Matthew and lay him down.
"I'm going up to get a shower," he said.
Madelyn nodded in his direction. She was distracted with the babies in front of her. It wasn't long before Mckynna needed to be burped. She carefully moved so she could burp her daughter while still feeding Myles. Matthew was in the bouncer next to her. Maverick came into the room and went straight for the toys in the room. He barely even glanced back at her. She sighed.
"Mave, what are you doing?" she asked.
"Playing," the little boy responded.
"Is your brother done eating?"
Maverick shrugged. She shook her head and chuckled. She got her answer when Malakai came rushing into the room. She turned on some cartoons for them. Mckynna finally burped and Madelyn was able to lay her down. Myles was last to finish and be placed in a bouncer. She picked up her phone, shocked to see it was her mother that had called her. She wasn't even sure how her mother got her number. They had blocked her for quite a while. She decided to listen to the voicemail that her mother had left.
"Madelyn, your no good father won't come out and tell you so I will. He has left and we are getting a divorce. I hope you are happy as this is completely your fault. You came back around and ruined everything. It's all you were ever good at," her mother's voice spewed from the voicemail.
Madelyn shook as she listened. She didn't even hear her husband come up behind her and take the phone from her. She looked back at him. He shook his head and pressed the number to delete the message.
"My father left her?" she asked, quietly.
"About a month ago," Marshall confirmed.
"You knew?"
Marshall hung his head slightly and nodded. Madelyn saw red instantly.
"You knew that they were getting a divorce and kept it from me?" she demanded.
"Your father asked me to, Mads," he defended himself.
"You never used to hide things from me. What the hell happened to you?"
"Madelyn, what are you talking about? He asked me not to tell you. Said he wanted to tell you himself. I had no idea he hadn't told you yet."
"You don't think if I knew this was going on that I wouldn't come right out and tell you?"
He sighed. He knew it was going to bite him in the ass when he agreed to keep the secret. He was pissed that Chris had even put him in this position. He was mad that now Madelyn was mad at him for it. He stared at his wife.
"I can't believe you would hide this from me," she snapped.
"Madelyn, I only did it because he asked me to. Everything was going on with our drama and I wasn't going to add to that," he said.
"This is so selfish of you, Marshall."
"How the hell am I selfish? I did what I did to protect you."
"All you did was cover it up so that witch got to be the one to break the news to me,"
"I'm sorry."
"Yeah, I'll bet you are,"
"Madelyn."
She got up and left the room. He stared after her not quite sure how to fix this and pissed that it was even going on. He didn't deserve this and neither did his family. He was at the end of his rope with her biological family. He sometimes wished they had never come back around because things would be easier for him and his wife.
