Small fingers wrapped around his hand. "Ethan? Where are we going?" Asked a tiny voice. He looked down at his little sister. "I don't know yet." He replied gently. She sneezed, then shivered in the cold. He bent down to zip up her coat, wrap her scarf correctly, and adjust her hat. The we're running from yet another abusive foster home. After they're parents died, they went home to home, always a wrong match. But they were always together. They care system always had to try and find them, and Ethan was doing his best to avoid them. Ethan knew that another family would end in more disaster. He couldn't wait for the next 4 years, when he would be 18, and (Y/n)'s legal guardian. 14 years old and Ethan practically already was the guardian of his 6 year old sister.

"You've got to keep your coat zipped, (Y/n)." He reminds. She nods. "Okay Ethan. You know what's best." Her faith in him warmed his heart despite the cold. It starts to snow softly, illuminating the air with a sparkly white. "Look Ethan! Look how pretty!" She small girl exclaimed. He smiled at her. She knew what was going on, as much as he tried to shield her, but she stayed positive. Always trying to make Ethan happy, and keep herself happy too. "Maybe we can play in the snow tomorrow. We need to find some shelter for tonight." She nodded, pouting a little. He pat her head. It was late, much too late for a 6 year old to be awake.

As if on cue, (Y/n) yawned. "You tired?" He asked. She shook her head, but her eyelids drooped. He chuckled, then picked her up. She was quite light for her age, due to the malnutrition they received, and Ethan was stronger then he looked. He had gotten training at a gymnastics studio by a coach who was aware of the situation. Well some of it. He trained Ethan for free. Ethan would skip school some days to go there, that way he would never leave (Y/n) alone with their abusive 'caretakers.'

She snored softly, head on his shoulder. He kisses her head. Thinking about his coach, he decides to go to the studio. There was a sheltered alleyway by the building they could stay in for the night, as he knew there was an abandoned car there. He had been keeping track to make sure it was abandoned, even seeing that the car was unlocked, just in case. He walked there, getting weird looks from passerby's. He was used to it though. (Y/n) had stirred awake as they reached the alley. "Are we here, Ethan?" She asked groggily. "Yup, not the most comfortable, but warm." He promised. He set her down on the ground next to him. He opened the car door, cleaning a few things out.

"Okay, all set. Go ahead, and get in." Ethan said. She looked on proudly. "Okay, come on Ethan." She climbed inside the car, waiting for him. He smiled, then got in next to her. She immediately cuddled his side. "I love you Ethan. You're my hero." She told him. He wanted to cry with happiness. 'Her hero.' He thought. "I love you too (Y/n). I'll always protect you." They fell into a soft sleep, pressed together in a hug. 'Together Forever.' (Y/n) thought.
