It was 11:25 when I gout out of the shower. I walked downstairs in my pjs, a blue tank top and black pj shorts. Bellamy was awake staring at the ceiling. I walked into my large kitchen and served myself a bowl of cereal.
"Bellamy, you hungry?"
"A little." I heard him answer.
"You want cereal?" I asked.
"Sure." I served another bowl and went to hand him it. I helped Bellamy sit up do he could eat, then sat on the coffee table. We ate in silence. Once we finished I put the dishes in the sink.
"You can go sleep you know. I'll be fine on my own Princess."
I rolled my eyes." Your the one who needs sleep Bellamy."
"So do you." He argued.
"I'm fine, I'm not even tired." I responded.
"Whatever you say Princess." We stayed quiet for a while until I couldn't stand the silence anymore. "Do you want to watch some t.v.?" I asked.
He shrugged."Why not?"
I reached for the controller next to me and then sat on the floor in front of the couch. As I flipped through the channels Bellamy stopped me.
"Wait go back two channels." I did. It was the History channel, there was a show on about Ancient Rome. I raised an eyebrow in question. "You like history?"
He glared at me."Yeah so? You got a problem with that Princess?"
"Geez no need to get defensive, I just didn't know you were a history geek."
He smirked."There's a lot of things you don't know about me."
"Like what you have to do with the Grounders, or why Anaya hates you?" I offered hoping to get something out of him. Instead his smirk faded, and he returned his attention to the show. After a bit I heard Octavia's name in the show. I smiled."Bellamy did you name Octavia after the sister of Augustus?"
"Possibly." He answered still looking at the t.v.
"Possibly." I repeated.
"Yes possibly." He answered now looking at me. He grinned."Maybe you aren't as smart as I thought you were Princess."
"You think I'm smart?" I asked surprised.
"No, I thought you were smart. As in not any more." He smirked as I rolled my eyes.
"Wait doesn't that mean you were like 3 when you named her?"
"Yeah, you see my mom loved History, and she always talked about great empires, so instead of reading me fictional stories she read me stories about Augustus. When it was time to name Octavia I wanted to do something to honor my mom, since she died only days after Octavia was born due to complications in child birth I decided to name her after something my mom loved."
"That's sweet." I smiled. He smiled back. "So um Bellamy why are you 19 and still in high school?"
"Because I was held back in first grade."
"Oh ok." We then turned our attention back to the show, until 3 when my mom came home.
"Mom." I said startling her as she closed the door.
"Clarke don't scare me like that, your going to give me a heart attack." She looked at her watch then at me. "What are you doing up?"
I bit my lip." Well..um...you see...well.."
"Spit it out Clarke."
I ok a deep breath." While Wells and I were at the bolling alley Octavia, her brother Bellamy, and some of his friends were there." She nodded and I continued."After a whole the Grounders showed up and started attacking us."
She gasped."Are you ok?" She took my face in her hands inspecting me to see if I was ok.
"Mom I'm fine and so is everyone else. Everyone went home except Octavia and Bellamy."
She nodded." Is that all?"
I sighed." The reason Octavia and Bellamy are still here is because Bellamy got stabbed and it looks pretty deep."
"Where is he?" She asked.
"Living room."
"Did you stop the bleeding?" She asked while rushing to the living room.
"Yes. He hasn't moved and the wound is covered and disinfected." When we entered the living room, Bellamy was intently watching the History Channel, so he didn't notice us.
"Bellamy this is my mom, Dr. Griffin. mom this is Bellamy Blake." I said drawing the attention of Bellamy. My mother stepped closer to the couch and extended her hand towards him. Bellamy shook her hand." Nice to meet you Dr.Griffin."
"Nice to meet you too Mr. Blake, how about we see that wound now."
Bellamy nodded and carefully lifted his shirt. My mother took off the bandages to inspect the wound. "You will need stitches, I'm surprised you didn't lose enough blood to pass out."
"Well that's thanks to your daughter ma'm." He said.
"Yeah Clarke's pretty good at curing people." My mom said. " I'll be right back, I need to go get some supplies to stitch you up from my office." She got up and left us alone.
"So" I said awkwardly.
"So" he also said.
"Um what kind of music do you like?" I asked not knowing what to say.
"Any type as long as it's good music, how about you?"
"Same." I responded."Play any instruments?"
"Only guitar, and you?" He asked.
I opened my mouth to answer, but my at that moment my mom came back and answered for me.
"She plays piano, guitar, trumpet, and even sings a little." She said setting her thins on the coffee table and kneeling in front of Bellamy.
"Three instruments, and she sings?" He asked my mom.
"Yes, and she's pretty good at all four things. Did she ever tell you about the time I had convinced her to enter a singing competition?"
"Mom I'm sure Bellamy isn't interested in that." I told her.
"Actually I am, it might help distract me from the needle that will be entering my skin." Bellamy said.
"Ok Clarke do you want to tell him or can I?" My mother asked.
"If you must go ahead." I said. My mother began stitching and telling the story of when I entered a singing competition at a karaoke place when I was 9, that was he only time I had sung in front of anyone who was not my parents, because of my stage fright. It wasn't until my mother had finished the story that he noticed his stitches were done.
"Thank you for the help, but I should go." He said and was about to get up when my mother stopped him.
"Don't be ridiculous you can stay here for the night. Clarke can you sleep down here for the night, just in case he needs something or do you want me too?" She asked.
"It's okay I'll stay down here." I answered.
"No it's okay I'll be fine on my own, I don't want to cause any inconvenience." Bellamy protested.
"It's no inconvenience, right Clarke?"
I nodded. My mother left to get some blankets and I moved the coffee table so I could sleep on the floor. As I did I felt someone's eyes on me. I turned to see Bellamy staring at me.
"What?" I asked him.
"You sing?"
"Yeah so what?" I asked maybe a little too defensively.
"You don't seem like the singing type."
"Well there's a lot of things you don't know about me." I said.
" Are you any good?"
I shrugged." I don't know." My mother came back with blankets, she handed me three and Bellamy two. I set up my bed for the night, and layer down.
"Are you guys comfortable?" She asked.
"Yes." Both Bellamy and I answered.
"Okay good night." She turned to her room, turning off the light on her way there.
"Night Princess." I heard Bellamy say.
"Night Bellamy." I said. After thirty minutes of trying to sleep I gave up.
"Can't sleep either?" I heard Bellamy ask.
"Nope." I said as Bellamy sighed. After a while Bellamy spoke up again.
"Can I hear you sing?" He asked. I bit my lip, did I want Bellamy to hear me sing?
"Sure if you sing too." I answered.
"Fine you first." He agreed. I took a deep breath and began singing 'Try' by Colbie Cailliat.
Put your make up,
Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile, keep it slim
So they like you, do they like you?
I continued to sing and felt Bellamy's eyes on me as I sang the chorus.
You don't have to try so hard
you don't have to give it all away
you just have to get up get up get up get up
you don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try try try tryyy
You don't have to try try try tryyy
You don't have to try try try tryyy
You don't have to try
I sang with so much feeling and I did because this song expressed so many of my feelings. I sang the last verse with everything I had.
Take your make up off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror
at yourself
Don't you like you?
'Cause I like you.
Though it was dark I knew Bellamy was staring at me, and I was starting to feel subconscious. "How was it?" I asked somewhat shyly. He didn't answer.
"Bellamy?"
"That was amazing Clarke. You truly do have an amazing voice." He said.
Once gain I felt a fluttering feeling in my stomach, and I was glad it was dark so he couldn't see me blush."Thanks, it's your turn."
"Okay um what should I sing?" He asked.
"Anything."
He cleared his throat and he began singing 'Monster' by Imagine Dragons.
Ever since I remembered
Everything inside of me
Just wanted to fit in
I was never on for pretenders
Everything I tried to be just wouldn't settle in
I almost gasped at how amazingly beautiful his voice was.
If I told you what I was
Would you turn your back on me?
And if I seem dangerous
Would you be scared?
He kept singing and with each word he sang I felt more intoxicated by his voice.
By the time he sang the last verse I was completely in awe. His voice held so much passion as he sang it was breath taking.
I'm only a man with a candle to guide me
I'm taking a stand to escape what's inside me
A monster, a monster I've turned into a monster
And it keeps getting stronger
As soon as he finished I said, " Wow that was awesome! Your voice is so amazing, who knew you could sing like that."
"Thanks. Hey Princess why'd you pick that song you sang?"
Without even having to think about it I answered. "Because people expect me to be perfect just because my mom's a famous surgeon, and we have to keep up with appearances. It's so hard to find someone that I don't have to try so hard to be someone else around them that if I do it makes me feel like I might yet have hope of showing people who I really am."
"Have you found anyone like that?" He asked.
"Not really. I have to act strong around even my closest friends so they don't worry about me, because they already have to many problems on their own, or because I don't want to bring them down with my problems. Anyway, um why'd you pick your song?"
He too didn't hesitate to answer." It describes me."
"How? You might be an annoying idiot, but your not a monster."
"If only you knew what I've done." He said quietly.
"You can tell me." I offered.
"Maybe someday Princess."
"Okay." I layer back down on my blankets.
"Oh and Clarke, you don't have to pretend around me, even if we aren't friends you can always be yourself around me."
"I will be," I smiled. The last thing I said before I fell asleep was,"Bellamy no matter what you have done, I know your not a monster."
A/N The song Clarke sang is on the first page, though I couldn't get a video of the person who actually sings it. Sorry I couldn't get Bellamy's song too, but you can look it up on YouTube if you want. Just search up Monster by Imagine Dragons. It's a good song you should listen to it.
