Chapter Twenty One

When I woke the next day, the pack were in a tizzy as an unknown vampire had been in Bellas house so they were all on red alert. This news led to the pack working with the Cullens instead of against them to try and protect Bella and the other humans. They watched her house whilst the Cullens fed. It was a weird time.

The one thing from all of this that I was looking forward to was the council meeting that we were having tonight on the beach. The wolves, elders, and imprints all gathered for a celebration of the pack. I was allowed to go because of Sam and Paul since I wasn't officially a part of the pack - something I was beginning to think about a lot. This was going to be Leah, Seth, and Quils first one as official members of the pack so we were going to hear some of the packs origin stories which I loved listening to! When I heard that Bella was attending though, my mood turned sour.

We all gathered on the beach, ate our body weight in food, and then we sat in a circle, facing Billy Black who began to tell us the story of the third wife. I loved the story, how a woman essentially saved the pack - I was all for female empowerment.

A few days later, I was woken by Sam's voice, shouting at Jacob so I went downstairs to see what was going on.

'Whats happening Em?' I asked.

'Jake wants to go to Bellas graduation party at the Cullens house' she explained, 'but the Bella is mad at him and Sam doesn't trust the vamps'

'Sam? I think you should let Jake go. You can't stop him from being a kid' I told my brother, carefully picking my words, 'I could always go with him to make sure he stays out of trouble'

'I'm not going to let either of you go!' Sam said stubbornly.

'Sam, you need to let us go! We can't stay holed up all the time. And we might find out some useful information while we're there' I argued.

'What if they attack you?'

'Then I'll run like hell while Jake sacrifices himself to save me' I replied with a grin.

'Alright fine' Sam reluctantly agreed, 'But Quil and Embry are going with you. And you have to be the one to tell Paul that you are going!'

'Oh crap' I muttered, 'well at least you won't have to worry about the Cullens because I'm pretty sure Paul might kill me once I tell him'

Emily started laughing 'this is what you get for wanting to go to a vampire party Katie'

Paul came in from patrol and looked at us all suspiciously.

'What's going on?' He asked curiously.

'Um, well, we were just talking about me, Jacob, Quil, and Embry going to Bellas graduation party at the Cullens house' I told him.

'No way in hell Kitty' he replied immediately.

'You can't stop me Paul'

'Sam surely you don't agree with this?' Paul asked his Alpha.

'If I said no she would sneak out and go anyway' Sam shrugged.

'You can't do this' Paul told me.

'I can and I will' I insisted.

He stormed out of the house and I knew he had gone to phase. He was very mad at me right now. I let him go, he needed time to calm down and I needed to go and help the pack. I wore all black, flowery knitted shorts, body suit, tights, and boots. I curled my hair slightly and added dark make up. Yes I was going to work but I still wanted to look good!

Embry, Quil, and Jacob were waiting for me in the living room with Sam.

'Paul still out?' I asked.
