Wolves - A Paul Lahote Story

Chapter Eighteen

When I stepped outside I was met by Embry and a grey wolf. To say I was a little shocked was an understatement.

'Is that Paul?' I asked Embry.

'He got a little pissed off when I wouldn't let him go back inside to see you and Sam' Embry explained.

'I can see that' I chuckled 'I got this Embry, you can go back inside'

'You sure?'

'Yeah, we'll be fine'

He left us and I walked over to Paul in his wolf form slowly. Once I reached him, I reached out my hand to touch his fur. It was soft and Paul seemed to relax under my touch. I giggled as he nuzzled into me. I sat down and he laid next to me, his head on my lap. I stroked his head slowly.

'So Sam knows what happened tonight on our date. Well, the whole pack does I guess thanks to your super hearing! But we talked and I told him he has to trust me to make my own decisions. SIt may take him some time but I trust him' I told him 'I'm also not really big on the whole wolves destroying the house thing and I don't think Em is either so you both need to chill a bit'

Pauls wolf form looked up al me and rolled his eyes. They were so similar to his human form, it was eerie.

'Okay, now I feel really weird talking to a wolf so can you like turn back to human please?' I asked him.

He ran off in to the woods and came back a few moments later on two feet.

'Much better' I told him, giving him a kiss, 'Now I should go to bed since Em and I are going to visit the Elders tomorrow'

'Can I join you in bed?' he asked cheekily.

'Don't push it Paul'

Emily and I spent our Saturday morning in the village going to a few different houses where the Elders lived.

Our first stop was Billy Blacks house. His son Jacob was due to phase any day now and we all had bets on when it would be. We'd taken Billy some food down knowing full well that he wouldn't have much time or energy to cook once Jacob turned.

After Billy's we went to Old Quils. His grandson Quil was also on the list to turn in to a wolf. Emily told me she visited Old Quil two or three times a week as his daughter - in - law worked late a lot and didn't like him being alone. He was a lovely guy and we spent a good few hours talking to him until we had to leave.

'Are we going to go to Harry Clearwaters house?' I asked Emily.

'Normally yes. But not today, Leah is home and I don't want to make things awkward' she replied.

I knew what she meant, Sam used to be with Leah before he phased and imprinted on Emily. It was a whole mess because Sam had to break up with Leah and then started dating her cousin. Leah was furious because she didn't know about wolves and imprinting but there wasn't much we could do.

We headed home and I hoped no one would be there so I could do some work but Paul and Embry were sat in the living room watching TV when we walked in.

'Hey, where's Sam and Jared?' I asked, kissing Paul.

'Jared went to pick up Kim and Sam is with Jacob' Embry explained.

'Wait, Jacob phased? I won the bet?'

'Looks like'

'Yes!' I cheered victoriously, 'You owe me a junk food day Emily!'

'Fine but you'll have to wait until I've been shopping' Emily replied.
