Jace's POV
He and Clary had no memory of last night. But someone told them they had gone out, and probably had gotten drunk or something. So they didn't ask questions. They were told Isabelle had had to go to Idris for some Clave business. And now they were going to go on the hunt. Jace was bored. Alec wasn't there to yell at him every five seconds, although come to think of it, he hadn't done that too much after the wedding with Lydia. He was starting to think he would never get over his Parabatai's death. Jace sighed and slid his black jacket over his shoulders. There was a knock on the door.
"Come in," Jace said. Clary walked into his room, wearing jeans and a black long-sleeve shirt.
"You ready?" She asked.
"Yeah, let's go," Jace replied, twirling his seraph blade in his hand.
Isabelle's POV
She opened her eyes to find herself on the floor, Eros standing over her.
"You did it," He said in amazement.
Isabelle stood up and looked over at the bed. The color had returned to Alec's face and his chest was rising and falling slightly. He was alive. She let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding. But then her eyes transferred over to Magnus. His skin had started to turn grey around the black lines that ran across his skin.
"Oh god, Magnus," She whispered.
Eros seemed to snap back into reality with her words. "Ah, yes." His voice was calm and soft, in an annoying type of way. "He was bitten. Don't worry about that, Isabelle." He snapped his fingers. A bottle appeared in his hand, and he held it out to Isabelle. "Give him a spoonful every three hours until he wakes up." Izzy took the bottle gratefully.
"What do I..." She started to say, but Eros was already gone. She sighed, opening the bottle Eros had given her. She grabbed a spoon from the kitchen, carefully pouring the foul-smelling blue liquid on it. Magnus's lips were slightly parted, just enough for her to drip the medicine into his mouth. She wondered how long it would be until one of them woke up.
We did it, She thought. We actually did it. Alec was alive. She smiled, taking her brother's hand in hers. Wait until she told Jace.
Alec's POV
Alec knew he had died. That was pretty clear. But what he didn't understand was why he could hear Isabelle's voice, and why he didn't feel dead anymore.
He had been wandering around in endless darkness. Everything was a shadow. He was a shadow. He had been walking through a tunnel with dozens of other shadows. He had been with Underhill, but they hadn't been able to talk. Then he was pulled out of there by who-knows-what and now it was like he was paralyzed. He could hear everything around him, but he couldn't open his eyes, and he couldn't move at all. He could feel someone's hand in his, and he knew he was laying down on something soft.
He tried to move, to open his eyes, but he couldn't. Was this all his imagination? Or did the hand he was holding belong to Magnus? Did the voice really belong to Isabelle?
Suddenly, he felt a searing pain in his head. It started to spread, rushing to his fingertips until his whole body was nothing but pain. He couldn't scream, even though he wanted to. Anything to make this stop. His breathing was heavy. But in seconds, the pain was gone, just as fast as it had come. He sighed.
"Alec? Alec, can you hear me?" Isabelle's voice said. When Alec didn't answer her, she sighed. "It's okay, big brother." He felt someone take his other hand. "You're going to wake up. You just have to."
Um, hello? I'm dead, Isabelle. He wanted to say. I don't think I'm waking up anytime soon.
But he had his doubts. He was pretty sure he was breathing. Was it possible that they had somehow managed to bring him back to life?
Isabelle's POV
It was getting cold in the room. She stood up from the chair she had been sitting in and walked out of the guest room. She grabbed a blanket from the couch and walked back into the guest room, throwing it over the boys. Her stomach rumbled. Isabelle hadn't eaten anything since Alec's death. She hadn't been hungry. But now she was.
She opened the fridge in Magnus's kitchen. There was tons of stuff in there. She grabbed a microwavable dinner and stuck it in the microwave. Three minutes later, she pulled the wrapper off and grabbed a fork. She took a bite of the mashed potatoes. It was actually pretty good. When she had finished, she threw the tray away, and started to make some tea for when Magnus and Alec woke up.
Isabelle put the pot on the stove, and waited for it to boil. It started to whistle, and she knew that meant it was ready. She turned off the stove, poured the tea into two cups, and walked back to the bedroom. When she opened the door, Magnus was sitting up on the bed, holding Alec's hands in both of his. He looked up when Isabelle walked in.
"Oh, you're awake." She smiled, handing him a cup of tea.
"Thanks," Magnus replied. The warlock looked exhausted. He had dark circles under his eyes. But at least the black lines had started to fade, and the wound on his arm where the blue creature had bitten him had started to heal. "I can't believe we actually did it," Magnus whispered. Isabelle couldn't believe it either. Just days ago, everything had seemed so hopeless. But now Alec was back. His heart was beating at a steady pace. He was alive.
"I know," Was all Isabelle said.
"When will he wake up?"
"I have no idea. Eros just disappeared before I had a chance to ask him."
"Oh," Magnus sighed. "Hopefully soon." She could see the longing in his eyes, that desire to have Alec back. She knew how he felt.
Everything that had happened was still sinking in. This past month had been crazy. Robert's fiance, Jonathan, Lydia, Jia, Jonathan again, then Alec's death, then his body missing at the funeral, and the quest to get him back. It was hard to believe that all happened in less than two weeks.
"What are we going to tell the others? They can't know about the Angel Guardians." Magnus pointed out.
"Oh, crap..." Isabelle whispered. "I didn't think of that."
"We'll figure something out," Magnus said. "Eventually."
"Yeah, I think it's best if we don't bring him anywhere until he's back to normal."
"Agreed." Magnus sighed. "If he's ever back to normal."
Hi. I didn't read this chapter over so sorry for any typos. We finally got Alec back!!! Now he just has to wake up, and then we'll be good! I hope you liked it, love y'all, bye. :)
