Alec's POV

There were no words to describe what he was feeling right now. No words to describe the amount of pain and happiness mixed together in his eyes, nothing to explain that wonderful feeling in his chest as he pulled away from the kiss, looking into Magnus's warm brown eyes.

Magnus looked away from him. "Hey, Magnus." He cupped the warlock's cheek in his hand, trying to get the shorter boy to look at him. "What's wrong?"

"Alexander...I..." Alec couldn't see his face, but his voice was filled with more pain than anyone should have to feel, no matter how long they had lived. Magnus tunred to face him, standing up.

Alec's heart shattered as Magnus's hands slipped from his own, and he wouldn't look at Alec's eyes.

Alec stood up as well, a wave of nausea washing over him. It must have shown on his face because Jace and Isabelle were there in seconds, putting their arms under his to keep him upright.

Alec carefully pulled away from them, walking towards Magnus as the dizziness faded. He placed his hand on the warlock's shoulder.

"Magnus?" He asked.

The others took this as a sign to leave, leaving the two of them alone in the blood-splattered room.

"Hey, Magnus. What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Magnus shook his head, turning to face Alec.

Alec was surprised to see tears in his eyes.

"Oh, Magnus." He tried to embrace him in a hug, but then he pulled away.

"Please, Alexander." He spoke desperately, the tears now falling down his cheek. "Please, stay away. I don't want to hurt you again."

Alec's heart was beyond broken with those words. "Magnus, that wasn't you. It was Jonathan. You weren't in your right mind."

"It doesn't matter."

Alec tried to step closer to his boyfriend, but Magnus took a step back for every step he took forward.

"Hey, none of that was your fault. Magnus, please, listen to me."

"No, Alexander! You listen to me! I-I almost killed you, Alexander!" His voice broke.

Alec didn't know how to reply. He wanted to help him. He wanted to hold him in his arms and never let go, never let anything bad happen to him ever again.

"We promised we would always be there for each other. We promised we would never hurt each other." Magnus whispered.

Alec felt like his heart had just decided to quit. The whole entire universe froze around them. Everything else was completely irrelevant.

"And you kept that promise, Magnus. You didn't hurt me, Jonathan did. And I'm okay now, right?"

Magnus shook his head slightly. The movement was so small, Alec almost missed it. He couldn't read the other boy's eyes. There was something there he had never seen before, something he wished he never had to see.

Magnus ran his fingers down the long scar that now crossed Alec's cheek. "No, you're not okay. I know you well enough to know when you're in pain."

He was right. But what Magnus didn't see was that the reason he was in pain was because Magnus was in pain. As long as Magnus was unhappy, so was Alec.

"I thought I was going to lose you," Alec whispered.

Magnus met his eyes for the first time in a long time.

"And I have never been so terrified in my entire life when Caterina told me you weren't waking up."

"What?"

"You had a twenty percent chance of survival, Magnus."

Magnus looked down. "I'm sorry for scaring you. But why would care? After everything I've done to you, why worry?"

"Because I love you. More than anything. I don't think I could live without you."

Alec spoke the truth. He didn't care about what Jonathan had done. The only thing that really mattered, in the end, was that he was okay. But he had to ruin the moment with some horrible news.

"And, also," He swallowed. "Jonathan has Madzie."

Magnus's head snapped up so fast, Alec was scared he would hurt himself.

"What?!" He exclaimed. "Let's go. We are getting her back."

Jace's POV

"What the actual hell is going on?" Isabelle asked him. "Why is Jonathan targeting Alec?"

"Something about our parabatai bond being the only thing that can stop him."

"I'm sorry, what?" Her voice was a bit louder than normal, but she didn't seem to notice. Either that, or she didn't care.

"Listen, Isabelle, I know just about as much as you do. All I know is that I'm never letting anything happen to him. He's been through way too much. Most people don't habe the types of problems he has their entire
lives. Alec's only twenty-four."

"That makes two of us. I don't care if he's an amzing fighter. I'm not leaving him alone."

"What about now?"

"Give him some time with Magnus. He just got him back."

"About that, how did he get him back?"

"It's a simple Seelie recipe. Shadowhunters don't know about it." Meliorn entered the room. "Well, I guess they do now."

"Meliorn?" Isabelle asked. "What are you doing here?"

"Long story short, the Queen sent me here to kill Magnus. But I healed him instead."

"Well, thank you for that, but you do know this means the Queen wants you," She cleared her throat, her voice changing to a British accent as she said, "dead, dead, dead."

Jace chuckled at her attempt to impersonate the Seelie Queen. Meliorn rolled his eyes.

"I'm fully aware of the consequences." He told them. "Would you rather I had just killed the warlock?"

"Oh hell no," Jace said, cutting Isabelle off before she could say anything. "Alec would have killed you." Then he smiled. "So I guess you're dead either way."

Isabelle elbowed him, hard.

"Ow," he complained, rubbing his arm.

"Well, someones gotta teach you how to keep your mouth shut."

Meliorn smiled, trying to hold back his laughter.

"Yeah, okay, very funny." He sighed. "I'm going to go find those two love birds."

"If they are having a moment, don't you dare interrupt them! You're already enough of a cock block!" Isabelle shouted after him, and this time Meliorn didn't try to hold his laughter.

Jace scoffed, rolling his eyes.

He went back into the training room, but Alec and Magnus were gone.

He ran to Alec's bedroom, which was empty as well. They weren't in the op center, the weapons room, the cafeteria, or anywhere else Jace had looked. As he was running through the halls, he spotting something. It was Alec's stele, broken in half.

Hellllooo! So I downloaded the Wattpad app cause I'm in the car right now it's a ten-hour drive. Barf. But we got smoothies so I'm happy. Also, this is the first time I have used my phone to write a chapter so there might be some typos. How do you make this bold? I don't know. Anyway, thanks for reading, I suck at electronics, okay love y'all, bye.
