Isabelle's POV
"I just need to speak to Isabelle Lightwood. I'm a Shadowhunter. Doesn't that mean I can come in?"
Isabelle stopped dead in her tracks when she heard that voice. Turning to the door, she saw nonother than Ms. Silver Earthwinter herself, trying to get past the guards that stood by the door.
Isabelle walked over to them. "It's fine," She mumbled to the Shadowhunters who were holding Silver at bay. They let go of her arms. "Follow me." She said, starting towards Alec's office. She didn't look back to see if the other lady had followed, but she knew she did. "Sit." She pointed at the couch in the office, shutting the door behind them.
Silver did not sit. "Those papers you took from my house," Her voice was neutral, her face blank. "I'm going to need those back."
"Why?"
"That's none of your business."
"Tell me what they are and why you need them and maybe, just maybe, I'll consider giving them back." She was very aware of the two blades that hung from the older women's belt, and she stayed on edge.
Silver sighed. "Fine. I'll tell you. All of the legends and stories are true, correct?"
Isabelle nodded.
"Well, someone has to write all of those stories. And because they are all true, you can't just simply make them up. So instead, people like me document it when something interesting happens. I've been alive for thousands of years. Do you want to know why those papers have your brother's story written on them? Because in a few hundred years, I'll release it to the public under some fake name."
Isabelle looked at her in shock. She had no idea that was how it worked. "But..."
"Ever wonder where all of these legends came from? I've spent my whole life turning these stories into books to read as a bedtime story for your children. To keep these legends alive." Silver interrupted. "And your brother has a story worth telling. I don't know why yet, but one day something is going to happen that will change the world as we know it, and it will have something to do with him."
"What do you mean? Alec's just an ordinary Shadowhunter!"
"No, he is a legend. Or he will be. So I need those papers back, please. I can't do my job without them."
Isabelle knew the papers they spoke of were sitting on the desk that Silver was standing in front of. If she turned around, she would probably see them sitting there.
Isabelle sighed. "Do you promise to let me know every single little thing that happens to them if I give the papers back?"
"Yeah sure, why not? You got a cell phone?" Isabelle nodded, pulling her phone out of her back pocket. Silver grabbed it from her hand, typing something in, then handed it back. "I'll text you when something happens."
Isabelle smiled. "Okay then, the papers are right behind you. But before you go, I was..."
But she was already gone. She was fast. The papers were no longer on the desk, and the window was open. How she had managed to do it that quickly, Isabelle may never know.
Magnus's POV
When he woke up the next morning, he hadn't even been aware that he had fallen asleep. He looked into the small tent he had built, where Madzie was still sound asleep, curled up, and wrapped in Magnus's jacket. His eyes darted around the landscape, looking for a certain raven-haired shadowhunter.
Panic rose up in his throat when he didn't see his Alexander anywhere. He stood up, continuing to look around. But then he saw him.
He stood off to Magnus's left, the grass there rising a few inches past his hips. He held his bow in his left hand, his right pulling back the string. He let go of the arrow almost as soon as it was pulled back all the way, and it went flying into the sky. Magnus followed it with his eyes until he saw what it was heading towards. A bird. The arrow hit it right in the chest, and it went plummeting to the ground. Alec ran to where it had landed, picked it up, and ran back to their little camping sight.
Magnus hit him in the shoulder when he reached him. "You scared me, Alexander!" He half-shouted, trying not to wake up Madzie. "Next time you go do something, at least tell me first!"
Alec chuckled. "Someone's a little overprotective."
"Am not," Magnus replied, frowning. "And even if I was, can you blame me?"
Alec's smile turned to one of sadness. "No, I guess I can't."
Magnus looked into those beautiful eyes of his, searching for something. He wasn't sure what, but he found himself leaning closer to the shadowhunter, who willingly bent down just enough for their lips to meet.
Despite the fact that they had been on this island for who-knows-how-long, Alec's lips were still extremely soft. The kiss was gentle, and it was in that moment where Magnus forgot about all of their troubles. He wrapped his arms around Alec's hips, pulling him in even closer, if that was even possible.
When the kiss did end it was only for the need of air. Magnus pressed his forehead against Alec's, a smile on his lips.
"I love you, Alexander."
"I love you too."
They were interrupted when they heard the voice of the young warlock behind them.
Alec pulled away from Magnus, turning to face the little sorceress.
"Madzie," He said. "How did you sleep?"
"Good." The little girl replied, rubbing her eyes. She clutched Magnus's jacked in her arms still. "I'm hungry."
Alec grinned. "That," He said. "is a problem that I can fix."
Guys I know this is short, and I didn't update yesterday, and for that, I am very sorry. Thank y'all so much for being so patient.
I can't think lately. Like, at all. This took two days to right and I had already planned most of it beforehand. I just can't think straight. It's like writer's block, but worse. Like writer's-drawer's-thinker's-block. Life-block. I don't know.
Thanks for reading, love y'all, bye.
