Isabelle's POV

"I can't help you."

"Why not?"

"No one can get on that island without the Queen's permission."

"Then we can change that,"

"It's a suicide mission. You do what you want, I'm not helping."

Isabelle sighed, plopping down in the armchair. She picked up another piece of paper, scanning it with her eyes. There were three pictures on it.

In the first, Magnus and Alec were sitting on the beach, leaning against a log with their arms wrapped around each other. Alec's face was buried into Magnus's chest, and he appeared to be sleeping.

In the next, Alec stood in a field of grass that rose up to his knees with another guy Isabelle had never seen before, with a white beard and blue eyes. Alec's expression was one of anger, his eyebrows scrunched together and his mouth curled into a frown. His hands were clenched tightly by his sides, his wrist wrapped in something green.

The last one scared her. Magnus was in a desert. He had tears in his eyes, and he was on his knees. The sun was setting behind him, making the sand look orange in some places and pink in others. How had he gotten to a desert? When was this taken?

"Where did you get this?" She demanded.

Silver rolled her eyes. "You're so needy."

Isabelle was losing her patience. She pulled out her seraph blade, moving towards the other woman in one swift movement, holding it to her throat. "Where did you get that picture?"

Silver was quick. She knocked Isabelle off of her feet and onto her back, placing her foot on her stomach to hold her down, taking the seraph blade and training it over her chest. Isabelle's eyes could barely follow her movements, and before she knew it, she was sitting on the front porch, as Silver slammed the door in her face.

"Good day."

And that was it. It was clear she wasn't helping her. But at least Isabelle had gotten something for her visit. She clenched several papers in her hand, each one containing answers for the many questions she had.

Luke's POV

Most people seemed to have forgotten, but tomorrow was Simon's birthday. So Luke was going to surprise him.

He had gotten him a gig at the Hunter's Moon, but what Simon didn't know, was that it was decorated for a party. He had invited several people, like Isabelle, Clary, Jace, Raphael, Meliorn, and a few others. But he didn't know if anyone was coming. Maia was already there.

He walked up the stairs to Simon's apartment and knocked on the door.

Jordan was the one to answer. He smiled when he saw Luke, knowing why he was there.

"Simon!" He called, "Someone's here to see you!"

"Coming!" Simon yelled back from his bedroom. He walked out of the room in a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt that read 'Breaking News: I don't care!'

"Hey, Simon." Luke smiled, and Simon mirrored his actions, embracing him in a hug.

"Hey, Luke."

"So, I got you a gig at the Hunter's Moon tomorrow night at eight. Is that okay?"

His smile widened. "Of course!"

"I can help you load the van," Luke suggested.

"Oh, no it's okay. I'm sure you're busy." Jordan spoke up, just like they had planned. "I can help him."
