Alec's POV

"Let me guess, that's Magnus?" Ellis asked, inspecting his fingernails. Alec ignored him, only paying attention to the warlock that was curled up like a little baby in his arms, his head resting against Alec's chest.

Alec kept whispering to him, kept telling him they would be okay. But truly, he didn't exactly believe in his own words. According to Ellis, they would probably go crazy or die before they got off of this island.

Alec ran his hands through Magnus's glitter-free hair, trying to calm him down. The warlock was now shaking ever so slightly. "Shh, it's okay Magnus, I'm here."

"A-Alexander?"

"Mmhm." Alec hummed.

Magnus stopped shaking and wrapped his arms around the shadowhunter.

"Is it really you?"

"It's really me."

"Okay, well, this is adorable and all, but we should keep moving." Ellis interrupted. "None of us are going to last very long out here without any water. Besides, it's a full moon tonight. We don't want to be on the beach when that happens."

"What? Why?"

"You'll see tonight. Now, I suggest you come with me unless you'd rather burn to death."

...

Ellis had brought them to a cave with a small stream of water in the very back of it. Magnus was asleep in the corner, and Alec and Ellis were sitting next to each other, leaning against the stone wall.

"I had a boyfriend once," Ellis said, surprising the hell out of Alec, who had been half asleep.

"Once? What happened?"

"He was killed, right in front of me. I couldn't do anything to save him. Instead, my parabatai..." He choked on his words. "My parabatai tried to save him, but got killed in the process."

"Oh," Alec whispered. He wouldn't know what he would do if Magnus and Jace died, especially right in front of him on the same day.

"You're lucky to have people who love you."

"I know,"

"The island," He continued. "It plays tricks on your mind." Alec looked over to him. "That's why I haven't gone insane. There's nobody left that I care about for them to trick me with. Now all I have to do is survive."

"What happens on a full moon?" Alec asked.

"Go look for yourself."

Alec turned his head to the exit of the cave, realizing it was night. He stood up, walking to the edge of the rock. Their cave was pretty high up, high enough so the treetops were below them.

Alec caught his breath. The forest was on fire, the smoke rising into the air, forming dark clouds in the sky. The beach was completely gone, covered by waves that magically stopped just before the forest. The desert was caught in a sand storm, but as he watched, the sand turned to snow, the desert into a tundra. He took a step back.

"What happened in the mountain area?" He asked worriedly.

"As far I as know, not much. Just a few small avalanches."

"How small?"

"Not big enough to destroy this cave, if that's what you're asking.

Alec sighed in relief. "Thank the Angel."

Jace's POV

He had been researching the Seelie island since nightfall, and now it was around eleven at night. Jace sighed, flipping through the textbook.
