Chapter 68

"The love I have for you,"

"Is a love that knows no bounds."

"In times of joy as well as sadness,"

"In sickness, and in health."

Alec couldn't breathe.

"I will love you as my equal,"

Magnus' heart was beating faster than he had thought possible.

"And protect you above all else."

"I will share with you my truest feelings."

But despite that, they both were smiling, staring into each other's eyes.

"And when you speak," Magnus stared into Alec's eyes, which were filled with more emotion than he had ever seen. He wondered if his own eyes looked the same. "I will listen."

"I will catch you when you fall." Magnus's glamour had slipped, showing his cat eyes. He hadn't even seemed to notice, and if he did, he didn't seem to care.

"And when you soar,"

"I will help you reach your greatest heights."

Alec paused before saying his name, still trying to process the fact that this was really happening. After everything they'd been through, they were both okay. And, Alec dared say, now they could live the rest of their lives together, until the end of time.

"Magnus Bane."

"Alexander Gideon Lightwood."

Alec's smile grew, and so did Magnus's.

And together, still with their hands clasped in front of them, the cool metal of Magnus's rings against Alec's fingers, they said nine words. Nine words that neither of them could express enough. Nine words that would change their lives, and the shadowworld, forever.

"I am and will always be your loving husband."

Brother Zachariah smiled next to them. "It is my honor," He started. "To pronounce you one."

Clapping arose from the crowd as their lips crashed together. They both wanted so much more than just a short little kiss at the moment, but they knew it would have to wait. As they pulled away and made eye contact once again, the only thing Alec could hear was the beating of his own heart, and the faint sound of the music playing, as the singer sang the words "I get to love you, and it's the best thing that I'll ever do." All he could see was Magnus. The golden flowers and banners were all just a blur behind them, the many colors of the stained glass window reflecting colorful light across their faces.

Alec couldn't help but thinking the song was perfect for that moment.

Magnus smiled, and they turned to face the crowd, hand in hand, and started down the steps, walking down the aisle. He waved his hand, causing rose petals to rise from their baskets, floating in the air for a second before falling again, slowly.

The second they were out of the room, Magnus stood on the very tips of his toes, pulling on Alec's neck, which wasn't needed because Alec was ready leaning down to kiss him anyway.

Isabelle's POV

"You think anyone will notice?" Isabelle asked innocently as if she was only asking if Simon thought anyone would see that she painted their phone charger instead of murdering someone.

"Probably. I mean, he is... dramatic pause... The High Bitch of The Asshole Club of Jerk Face, New Dumb Dumb, USA. The reason this country puts directions on shampoo bottles. The face that shows up on Wikipedia when you look up the word 'idiot.' Yeah, I think people are going to notice. And then they will thank you."
