Magnus's POV

Honestly, he was terrified. It scared him how easily Jonathan had turned him against Alec, and how easy it had been for Magnus to do what he had done.

Alec's screams echoed through his mind as they arrived at the warehouse, the glow of the agony rune as he forced Alec to activate it with his own two hands.

He shivered at the memory, and Alec noticed.

"Hey," He put his hand on his shoulder. "It's going to be okay. Let's just grab Madzie and get out of here."

Magnus knew this was a horrible idea. He knew that Jonathan could easily kill them both. He knew they were both too weak to fight back. But he would try.

"Come on, the sooner we get her out of here, the better," Alec said, pulling back his bowstring, keeping it aimed at the ground as he walked.

The door was locked, so Alec drew the unlock rune on it, and it promptly flew open. They stepped inside, expecting to be attacked, but instead, they were met by an eerie silence.

They continued down the dark hall, walking into the large room. The chair was still in the center of the room, along with the table, which had a single dagger stuck in it, blood splattered across the table. Alec looked away.

Magnus knew Alec was uncomfortable. He exited the room, checking the rooms along one of the hallways. They were all pretty much empty.

"They're not here," Alec said.

"I guess it wouldn't be very smart to come back here. We all know where this place is."

Alec nodded. "Let's look around. See if they left any clues."

Magnus turned to look at him, but the shadowhunter had already disappeared down one of the many corridors of the warehouse. Magnus sighed, turning on his heel and walking into one of the rooms. It had a small bed in the corner, and a picture hung on the wall. He walked up to the picture, gently pulling it from the wall to hold it in his hands. It was dusty, so he wiped the dust off with his finger.

He sucked in a breath as he saw who it was. The boy in the photo was young, probably around nine or ten years old, he had striking hazel eyes, messy black hair, and he wore a green shirt. He smiled at the camera as he showed the angelic rune that was still red, probably freshly drawn. It was the only rune on his skin.

"Magnus?" Alec's voice came from behind him. "Did you find anything?"

Magnus held out the photo, and Alec took it. He smiled. "This was the day of my rune ceremony."

"So it is you?"

Alec nodded. "Jace and Isabelle were so jealous."

Magnus gave him a sad smile. He still felt horrible about everything.

Suddenly, a loud crash sounded through the warehouse, making Magnus jump.

"What was that?"

"I don't know. But let's get out of here before we get ourselves killed."

"Wouldn't want to do that again, would we?"

Alec chuckled, hitting him on the shoulder lightly.

"Shut up." He said jokingly.

"Who's there?" Someone's voice echoed from the hall.

"Shit," Magnus mumbled. "Let's just get out of here."

Alec nodded, and Magnus waved his hand in front of them, forming a portal.

"Hey!" Someone shouted, just as they stepped into limbo, the portal closing behind them.

Jace's POV

"You've got to be kidding me."

"He's not here. And neither is Magnus."

"You don't think they went after Jonathan, do you?"

"No. They aren't stupid."

Isabelle looked up when he said that, raising an eyebrow. "Not stupid. But Jonathan took Madzie."

"You're right. They went after him."

Clary's POV

Clary's head hurt like crazy. Being knocked out every time they fought somebody was no fun. She sat on her bed, drawing.

She had been drawing Magnus and Alec a lot lately. She thought it was incredible that two people could go through so much, and always love each other more than anything. It was inspiring.

She looked down at the picture she had drawn, Alec's head was in Magnus's lap, his eyes closed. Magnus looked down at him, his magic trained on the other boy's bleeding face.

She flipped back the pages, looking at her previous drawings. There were a couple of Jace, one of Isabelle, she had one of Max and Madzie sitting on the couch together, but the rest were of Magnus and Alec. She had gotten a new sketchbook a few days before Alec's birthday, but it was already almost full. She sighed, closing it and tossing it on the bed next to her.  She closed her eyes. Why did everything have to be so difficult?

Suddenly, Jace and Isabelle burst into her room.

"Come on," Jace said. "There was a demon attack in the city, three mundanes dead. Alec and Magnus are missing, Jonathan kidnapped Madzie, and we have to go."

Clary stood up immediately, grabbing her twin blades and following the other two out the door.

Hi. Sorry for the short and crappy chapter. I'm super busy. I got new arrows today.  Also, MY FINGERS HURT BECAUSE I AM AN IDIOT AND I PRACTICED ARCHERY FOR LIKE FOUR HOURS STRAIGHT WITHOUT MY GLOVES. *Facepalm* So barf. Also, I didn't read this over for any typos. I feel like I say that a lot... Okay, welp, hope you liked this chapter, even though it sucks, and uh, I try to make up the three hundred-ish words I didn't write eventually. But I'm in a different state right now (I live in the U.S) so I'm super busy but gods I'm still talking okay, bye.
