Seven Months Later-
"I can't believe this!" Alec yelled.
Magnus looked up from the magazine he was reading as Alec practically threw his phone. "What's wrong, Alexander?"
Alec took a deep breath. "Isabelle is pregnant,"
"What?" Jace exclaimed.
Clary grinned.
"Yeah,"
"Wow," Magnus was surprised.
"Yeah,"
They were silent for a few minutes before Magnus broke it.
"You're not going to kill Simon, are you? Because I actually like him. He's a funny kid-"
Jace stood up. "If Alec doesn't, I will."
"Jace," Jace's wife pulled him back onto the couch. "You are not killing Simon,"
Jace looked at her. He could never say no to those bright green eyes. "Okay,"
"Besides," Clary continued. "She's an adult, you know. You can't protect her forever."
Alec glared daggers at her. But soon enough his glare faded. Although he had hated the redhead for such a long time, now he loved her almost as a sister. He kind of had to, since she was technically his parabatai-in-law. Or however that works.
There was a knock on the door. "It's open!" Magnus yelled.
Luke and Maia opened the door and walked in. "Hey guys," Maia smiled. "You heard about Isabelle?"
Alec nodded, Clary squealed, and Magnus and Jace both said, "Uh-huh,"
As they talked to each other, remembering all of the crazy things that had happened over the past year, more and more people began to arrive at Magnus's loft.
"Magnus! Alec!" A little girl's voice giggled from behind them.
Alec grinned as Madzie jumped into his arms and wrapped her tiny ones around him.
Once everyone was here, it began.
Everyone walked through the portal, hand-in-hand with their loved ones and friends. That was what today was all about, anyway.
The portal lead to the Institute, where everyone gathered around a giant structure that was covered in cloth. The only people who knew what the statue underneath looked like were Magnus, Caterina, Luke, and a few others.
"Today," Alec said, stepping up to the podium. "We are gathered to remember those we have lost. Not to remember them as they are now, but as they once were. Not for how they effect us now, but for the things they did when they were with us."
People took turns saying their speeches to the audience.
"We've lost everything and gained everything," Magnus said when it was his turn. "We've lost love and gained love." He looked at Alec.
Simon's speech was next. "Someone once asked me what was more important than surviving. And at the time, I didn't know how to answer that. But now, after everything, I finally have a response. Because I realize that without the things like love, friendship, peace, and trust, what is life? What is the point of living if you don't have those? Those reasons. Everyone has a reason."
Isabelle's speech was short and simple. They all listened to what everyone had to say, listened to every single person. Even little Madzie, who went up to the podium with a teddy bear in her arms.
Soon it was time for the statue to be revealed.
The second the cloth was pulled away, the crowd gasped. It was beautiful.
The statue showed hundreds of people, each one carefully crafted, each one with distinct features that made people recognize who they were. Alec was in it, with his wings spread out. Magnus was next to him, a sword in hand. Jace, Clary, Isabelle, Simon, Maia, Luke, Maryse, Imogen, Helen, Aline, Andrew Underhill, Caterina holding Madzie, Jordan, Jonathan, Valentine, the Seelie Queen, Raphael, everyone. Even Bob was in the statue, although he had left to go on his own adventures months ago.
"Wow," Clary gasped.
"It's amazing!" Isabelle added.
Alec gaped at the structure.
It truly was amazing.
...
The ending of Alec Lightwood's story is the beginning of hundreds of new ones. Because as we all know, ending only lead to new beginnings.
Although this story ended hundreds of years ago, it still continues today. Some say that Alexander and Magnus live in Alicante, while others say they still love in the loft. Some say the two were lost to time, or that they no longer live in this dimension. It is unknown how their story really ended, but even if it was know, would that really be the ending?
That's the truth: There is no ending. A story doesn't end with a person. It never ends as long as people carry it on. It may turn into a legend, it may be forgotten, but it will never end.
The magic on the statue faded hundreds of years ago, and the mundanes that live in New York city still wonder where it came from, and it's story.
If you are reading this, it only means one thing.
The Shadowworld has not existed for a long time. It had disappeared over the years. The supernatural creatures had died out. And soon, I will too.
If you are reading this, it means you can see through the magic. It means you have the blood of one of those creatures running through your veins.
Now you know the story of that statue, the one you've seen everyday and never known where it came from. Now you know. Within these pages, legends come to life.
This is the last writing of Silver Earthwinter, Shadowhunter, student of Valentine Morgenstern, Daughter of Herman Earthwinter.
If you take away anything from these pages, just remember: All the legends are true.
