Alec's POV
Alec had figured out he had broken his wrist the second he tried to get off of the sand. He winced, and of coarse Magnus noticed right away.
"What? Alexander, are you okay?" He asked.
Alec nodded.
The Seelie Queen laughed. "How cute," She said, her eyes twinkling. "You really do care about each other, don't you?"
"What do you want?" Alec said, standing up from the sand, ignoring the throbbing in his right wrist. Crap. He was right-handed.
The Queen smiled, her perfectly aligned pearly white teeth all showing. "Nothing really," She paused, looking at the two of them thoughtfully. "I can't let you foil Jonathan's plan. We can't have that now, can we?"
"So what? Are you going to try and kill us now or something?" Magnus said with the smallest hint of sarcasm behind all of the annoyance.
"Oh, no. I wouldn't dream of it. I wouldn't want to get my hands dirty. Why do you think I have all of those guards?"
Alec ignored her question. "So you're going to leave us on this island then?"
"If that's what you prefer, then I might consider it. But I do think it would be much easier for everyone if I just called some of my knights over to deal with you. It would be quick and easy."
"I don't know about that," Magnus told her.
"Well, considering your powers don't work here, the Shadowhunter lost his weapon in the sea, and he has broken his wrist, I don't think you provide a valid argument."
She was gone before either of them could even say anything.
"How the hell do they do that?" Alec asked, his face red with anger, his hands clenched into a fist by his sides, which hurt quite a bit with his wrist, but he didn't care.
Magnus grabbed his right arm gently. "Ugh, she's right. Wy didn't you tell me, Alexander?"
"It's not a big deal. I'm a Shadowhunter, Magnus. I've broken tons of bones before."
"Well now you don't have a stele to heal it," Magnus pointed out.
"It's fine, Magnus, really. We just have to get off of this island. Before Jonathan attacks the Institute again."
Consul Imogen's POV
"What?"
"The New York Institute is in danger of attack. Jonathan threatens to kill everyone there." The boy in front of her paused for a second before continuing. "Unless you agree to meet with him tonight. Alone."
"Where?"
"Just outside of Idris in a rundown warehouse."
"Okay, I'll do it."
"Consul, what if it's a trap?"
"Then I'll call for backup. But I don't think it is. What would he get out of killing me?"
"Well, first of all, you're the leader of the Clave, and he wants all Shadowhunters dead."
Imogen sighed. "You're dismissed, thank you Mr. Feathermore."
The boy nodded and left the room without saying another word.
Imogen put her head in her hands. She had a lot to think about.
If what Eros had told her really was true, she couldn't let Alec Lightwood be killed. He's too important. If Raziel had chosen him, it must have been for a good reason.
She sighed once again, picking up the phone from her desk, dialing a number. It rang twice before someone answered.
"Consul?"
"Yes, get me a portal to New York. As soon as possible." Then she hung up.
Being Consul had its perks, as a warlock was knocking on her door minutes later.
She stepped through the portal, stepping out a few seconds later in front of the New York Institute. She opened the door, stepping inside and surprising the shadowhunters by the door.
"Consul Herondale," One said.
"Alice Darwnspark, Leslie Singlebeam, Lucas Ashguard," She called them by their names. When she had become Consul, she had gone through the profile of each and every Shadowhunter. She knew them all.
"Where is Mr.Lightwood?"
"Oh, uh, Consul Herondale." Isabelle Lightwood walked into view, clearly taken aback by her presence. "What brings you here?"
"I need to talk to your brother."
"Uh... he's out," She said.
Imogen frowned. Did she really expect her to believe that?
"Walk with me," She said sternly. Isabelle obeyed, walking next to her in silence. Imogen lead her into Alec's office, shutting the door and locking it behind her. "Where is he? And don't lie to me, Isabelle."
"He's on an island called Fair in terra filk. He's with Magnus. They've been there for three days. Jace talked to him yesterday but the connection broke. Jace says he got hurt. Something about a broken wrist."
"By the Angel, what has he gotten himself into? Raziel is going to be ticked if his new..." She stopped talking when she saw Isabelle's face.
"His what?"
"Nothing. About that island, Shadowhunters used to be stranded there quite often. Most of them never came back. But I have not heard of it for years. And you can only get there if the island wants you to. The same thing with leaving."
"Most people? Who has come back?"
"The only person still alive that didn't go insane afterward is Silver Earthwinter. She's old. Probably won't remember much, but she's the only one who didn't go insane."
"Insane? So, even if we do manage to get Alec and Magnus back, they will go insane?"
"Most likely."
Isabelle sighed. Imogen felt bad telling her this. And to be honest, she had grown to like the Lightwood boy. He was a brave leader, and not to mention better than most in battle. It would be a shame if he went insane. He would be stripped of his runes and declared unfit for duty. But they needed Shadowhunters like him. At this rate, she wouldn't be surprised if a war broke out.
Jace's POV
He had gotten called to deal with some demon attack at a mundane hotel. He went alone. It was only one demon, he could handle that. Besides, everyone else as busy trying to hide the fact that Alec was missing. Again.
