Magnus's POV

"Do you think this will hold?" Magnus asked, tying the last knot on their make-shift boat.

"I have no idea," Alec replied helpfully.

Magnus sighed. The raft looks steady enough, with tons of different things they had found tying it together.

Alec brought over two branches, each about as long as his bow. "We can use these as oars."

"Yeah, okay," Magnus replied, stepping back to admire their work. "But we have no idea where we are. There might not be any land for hundreds of miles for all we know."

"We can't be that far away from New York. I mean, we washed up on this beach without drowning or anything."

Alec was right. The Shadowhunter had even been unconscious. How far away could they possibly be?

"Okay, are we ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be," Alec said, picking his bow from the sand.

Magnus smiled, looking at him. He reached forward and pulled a leaf from his hair. "What is it with you and getting things caught in your hair? First radishes and now leaves."

Alec blushed slightly, but didn't say anything in reply.

Together, they pushed the boat out to the water, jumping on it once it was deep enough.

"Okay," Alec said, sitting on the raft next to Magnus. He started to push them deeper out to sea with one of the sticks.

"Maybe once we get off this island my magic will work," Magnus suggested. "Then we can just portal to the Institute."

Alec only nodded. The evening sun was shining down from the heavens, making it seem as if Alec's head was wrapped in a halo of light, like the angel he is.

"You know," Magnus whispered after a long while. "You saved my life. More times than I can count. So thank you, Alexander."

Alec was quiet for such a long time Magnus thought he hadn't heard him until he answered, "No one has ever saved a  life, Magnus. Just prevented the inevitable."

Magnus looked at him. That was kind of dark. But the more Magnus thought about it, the more he realized Alec was right. Everyone died eventually. Even if they were immortal. If they didn't get killed or something, the sun would explode eventually wiping out all of humanity. The whole entire Milky Way would be gone.

But Magnus didn't want to think about that. He didn't want to think that he was immortal, and one day, Alec would die. And he would just have to move on.

Jace's POV

He fell to the floor as everything rushed back to him.

"Jace?" Clary asked.

"Are you okay?" Isabelle kneeled next to him.

"Alec. He's okay. I can feel him again."

All of Alec's emotions and feelings had come back to him in a giant tidal wave.

Jace closed his eyes, concentrating on the bond he shared with the hazel-eyed shadowhunter. Alec had spoken to him, so Jace should be able to do the same.

'Alec. Alec are you there?'

'Jace?'

'Oh, thank the angel Alec are you okay?'

'I'm fine. Magnus and I made a raft. We're out in the ocean somewhere...'

'Any clue where?'

'Nope. But we were on an ancient Seelie island. I think its name is Fair in terra filk.'

'Land of the Fair Folk? Wow, Seelies sure are creative.'

Alec chuckled. 'Yeah, well... hold up... I'm fine, Magnus. Just talking to Jace.' He paused for a second. 'Sometimes we can talk through the parabatai rune.' He paused again. 'Okay, sorry, what were you saying Jace?'

'I'm researching the Fair in terra filk. Are you sure that's the right island?'

'Pretty positive,'

'Wow. That's far from here.'

'How far?'

'Eight hours by plane,'

'Oh, god.'

Alec must have said that out loud because now he was talking to Magnus again.

'But can't you just portal back here? And if you're looking for land, Africa is closet that the United States. Maybe you should head west,'

'That's probably a good idea. But we can't portal because...'

Suddenly, Alec let out a shout. Jace felt a burning pain in his chest. Then in his wrist.

'Alec?! Alec! Are you okay?'

The other shadowhunter didn't answer. The connection must have broken off.

"Jace, what is it?" Isabelle asked, her expression full of worry.

"I don't know." He said, clenching his wrist. Alec must have broken his or something. "But they are really far away from here. I told Alec to head to Africa. It's closer."

"What part of Africa?"

"They're around Conakry, the capital of Guinea."

"Dang. Isn't that like over four thousand miles away?"

"Four thousand, two hundred, forty-three miles from here."

"Great," Clary mumbled. "Why does everything have to be so complicated?"

There was another sharp pain, this time in his leg. He winced. Alec was in trouble. He knew that much.

Alec's POV

Well, that didn't go as planned. He had been talking to Jace, and then the boat had just run into something. The weird thing was, there was nothing there. They were out in the middle of nowhere.

He fell off of the boat along with Magnus, the waves pulling him under again. And before he even knew it, he was back on that island, coughing out seawater.

He looked around. Luckily, Magnus was sitting on the sand right next to him.

"How the hell..." The rest of Magnus's sentence was cut off as he choked on more water.

Once they both could breathe again, they looked around. Their boat was nowhere to be seen, and neither was Alec's bow. Now all he had was the quiver.

"Are you okay, Alexander?" Magnus asked. Alec looked at him. His nose was bleeding, but other than that, he seemed to be fine. Alec sighed. Magnus was always making sure Alec was okay before he even thought about himself. Maybe that was a result of watching Alec die in his arms.

Alec nodded. "You?"

"I'm good," then he frowned. "Actually, I don't think I am."

That got Alec worried. "Why? Are you injured? Where does it hurt? Let me see."

Magnus chuckled. "I'm not hurt, it's just that what if we never get off of this island?"

"We will," Alec replied.

"So confident," A new voice replied. An all too familiar voice with a British accent. "I heard from my birds and bees that you were on my island,"

Alec looked up to see his least favorite blue-eyed redhead.

"Your Majesty," Magnus said in annoyance. "What an unpleasant surprise,"

Hi. So I practiced archery today so that's good. But my stupid idiot self hit my arm with the bowstring so ow. That hurts. But I am honestly used to it by now. So anyway, my grandma just said I have to go watch some movie with her and she made popcorn so... BYE. I didn't check for typos again. See y'all later, thanks for reading, bye.
