Jace's POV
"Alec!" He ran through the hall as fast as his legs would carry him. The alarms were so loud, he could hardly hear his own voice.
His parabatai stopped at the end of the hallway with Magnus, waiting for him to catch up.
"There you are," Alec said to him before they started running again. Jace had a several seraph blades. He had grabbed them from the training room. He hand two to Alec, and two to Magnus, leaving himself with three. Magnus took the blades reluctantly. Alec mumbled a thanks.
"I'll meet you out there. I need my bow." Alec told them, turning into their shared bedroom.
Jace and Magnus burst through the doors into absolute chaos. There were children on the street, running in panic. Vampire lurked in every shadow, warlocks were sending bursts of red and orange magic at people, children, women, and men alike. The Seelies were controlling the plants, causing vines to wrap around people's ankles, forcing them to the ground before stabbing through the back of their head. Demons ran across the streets. Jace's eyes landed on one feeding on a child, who wasn't moving. Probably dead.
"This is lovely," Jace mumbled.
"Watch out on your left," Magnus replied. Jace turned just in time to meet his seraph blade with a vampire's fangs. He stabbed into his stomach, causing him to disappear in fiery dust.
"Don't get killed, Magnus. Alec won't like that."
He didn't wait for a reply. He just bolted off to a group of kids, the youngest barely able to walk, the oldest probably being around fourteen or fifteen, who were surrounded by vampires.
Jace put a finger to his lips, telling the children not to acknowledge him. He snack up behind the vampires, stabbing two at a time. The other four whirled around. Jace was just about to fight them off when he heard the quiet zip of an arrow flying through the air. Before he even knew it, all four vampires were gone. He didn't have to turn around to know it was Alec who had shot the arrows. No one else he knew had that good of aim.
"Go. Get out of here." Alec told the children, who nodded. "Stay inside. Don't come out until we come and get you. Lock the doors." Then they ran off.
"Dad-mode activated." Jace said.
"What?"
"Oh, nothing." He smiled. "Come on."
Isabelle's POV
"Cat, please. I have to go."
"You're needed here, Isabelle."
Isabelle looked at the screen desperate, unsure of what to do. The live security footage showed absolute havoc. She could see Magnus, cornered, standing with his arms out in front of two young children, who looked to be siblings. There were other warlocks surrounding them. Isabelle couldn't hear what they were saying, but she knew it couldn't be good. On another screen, Alec was holding a teenager, probably about sixteen in his arms. Her forehead was was a mess of blood, staining her blonde hair red. Jace was going blade against magic with a warlock, narrowly dodging every blow.
Clary stood next to her, watching the footage with a hand over her mouth. "We have to help them! Caterina, please. The wards are down, you can portal us there!"
Caterina looked at them with a mix of emotions. Eventually she agreed. "If you don't get Magnus back safely, I'm killing you both when you get back."
"Understood."
Five minutes later, they had a group of their best men and women ready to head to Alicante, ready to fight, and ready to die if worst came to worst.
