Omniscient
Standing in her classroom Carina watched the young girls practice the dance she forcefully taught them. Her presence was clearly visible in the room but her mind was in mars. Her eyes focused on them but she had no idea what was going on.
For the past two days, all she had thought about was Quin...
What was he doing? How was he feeling? If he was okay?
He was literally living in her brain rent-free. She barely slept at night because she could think of nothing else besides him. Not even herself.
Running her nails through her hair she quietly sighed. This was her first day back at work and she dreaded being there. It wasn't only because she lost a feel for her occupation. She didn't like the energy she apologetically had been displaying to her young students. She was sad, worn out, and emotional.
At the moment she was sitting on the brown table in the room. She still had another twenty minutes left before the day officially ended. The twelve-year-old girls had been distracted by each other so she let them be. She'd do anything to be walking out that door right now.
Reminding herself to stop at Cynthia's office she opened her emails on her iPhone. Clicking the recent one from David she opened it slouching down.
Your city right?
He said with three attachments to it. Clicking them she slightly smiled at the professional pictures he had taken. He was trying to be funny. The huge body of water, tall landscapes, and camels definitely wasn't in Paterson.
...Or she must have been gone for too damn long.
~Niccce! But that doesn't look like Paterson to me🤔. Looks about Dubai-ish. Maybe Harlem on a good day 5:12
Clicking send she waited for a reply leaning on her arm. When it took more than a minute she exited out of it going to another thread.
~Hey are you okay? I called you earlier
5:12
~I'm leaving work in 10 so I'll stop by if you're home 5:13She sent more messages to Quincy.
Even though it had only been a couple of days she felt like she was playing cat and mouse with him. She literally catches him when she can. He's either never home or doesn't respond to anyone's calls or texts, barely. Yesterday he came to her house really late, like around 2 am waking her up. He was in hysterics and cried his eyes out in her grasp until he had fallen asleep.
She wanted to call out and be with him but she knew she couldn't. She already took a week for her birthday, requested off for Kaylee's funeral, and the day after.
It amazed her how in a matter of seconds her life could just change around like this. She felt as though they worked so hard to be in a happy place all for this to occur. Sometimes she thought these were signs. They could never just be joyous... but she'd erase the thoughts as quickly as it came.
Not that she wanted to break things off.. but even if it was in her best interest to leave she couldn't. She knew that. Her worst obsession. He had her wrapped around his finger and it got ten times worst once she found out about their offspring.
To her surprise, he texted back so she unlocked her phone rather quickly.
Quin: I'm not home. I'm good. 4:46
