Chapter 84: Running Away

A/N: Short chapter, but I think it's best to give this its own chapter.

You and Clem manage to get away from them. You both stop walking when you've reached the middle of the woods. You both put your hands on your knees, out of breath.

You look behind you to see if anyone followed you.

Clem: Is--anyone following us?

You: No. No, we're good.

You both stand up straight.

Clem: How the hell could Javi do that to us?!

You: He's a fucking coward, is why.

You whistle to summon Dyla.

Clem walks over to a tree and punches it.

You: Clem!

She holds her fist in pain.

You run over to her. You inspect her hand.

You: What were you thinking?

Clem: I was thinking about how Javi just fucking betrayed us!

You: That's no reason for you to punch a tree.

Clem: I just can't fucking believe that guy! I mean after all that I've done for him?!

You: You gotta be quiet.

Clem: I don't care! The list of people that I can trust gets smaller every day! I'm so fucking sick of it!

You grab her arms.

You: Clem--

Clem: I mean, why the hell would he think that they negotiate?!

You: Clem!

She gets a bit taken back.

You: Listen...I know you're angry about Javi. And I know that you think that everything just sucks, right now. But I won't let you go. I'll be here for you. Even in the shittiest, most horrible days imaginable, I WILL be here for you. So you can punch every tree in this goddamn forest, but I'm not going anywhere... I will never leave you.

She hugs you and you hug back. You rest your chin on top of her head.

Clem: Thank you.

Dyla makes it to you and Clem.

You: Anytime.

You both pull out of the hug.

You're about to turn to Dyla, until Clem grabs your arm.

You: Cle--

Clem: Run away with me.

You: What are you--

Clem: We can just leave. We can leave all of this behind. We'll get out of Virginia, your bounty'll be gone, I can leave the New Frontier in the past... Just run away with me... Please.

You stare into her beautiful hazel eyes. You kiss her and she kisses back. She wraps her arms around your neck. After about five seconds of kissing, you pull back.

You smile.

You: Let's do it.

Clem smiles.

Clem: Really?

You: Yeah... I'll follow you to the end.

You both just smile at each other for a couple of seconds.

You climb onto Dyla. You offer your hand to Clem. She takes it and climbs onto Dyla. She wraps her arms around your stomach.

You look back at Clem.

You: Where to?

Clem: Who cares? We can go anywhere.

You: Loud and clear.

You both smile at each other. You look back at the trees and Clem rests her head on your back.

You: YAH!

And with that, you and Clem are off.
