Chapter 145: Back

You, Clem, and James are walking back to the school. Clem's holding AJ in her arms. She said that she doesn't want to do nothing while AJ suffers.

James stops walking when he gets to a bridge. He turns to Clem. You and Clem stop walking right next to James.

James: Is he awake?

Clem: Yeah. He's so hot.

You: Clem, you're exhausted. I can carry him if you want me to.

Clem: No, I can...I can do it.

You sigh. You all continue walking over to the school, which isn't that far. You make it across the small bridge and through the trees with ribbons.

AJ groans.

AJ: Hurts.

Clem: Hang on. We're almost there.

You make it up to the gate to see Willy on the guard tower. Willy stands up and takes out his bow.

Willy: Walker!

He shoots an arrow right next to James' feet, causing him to flinch. Willy sees you, Clem, and AJ and lowers his bow.

Willy: Violet! Louis! They came back! He says, running off.

You turn to James.

You: Look, you live out there alone, right?

James looks at you.

You: You could stay with us.

James turns to you and looks at the arrow Willy shot. James sighs and shakes his head. He looks at you.

James: Not ready.

He walks away from the gates. You and Clem turn around. Clem wheezes.

You: Clem, for God's sake, just let me carry him--this isn't good for you!

Clem: I can do it!

She starts practically trembling over to the gate, making you worried. She starts talking to AJ.

Clem: We'll be inside soon. Rest now.

You see Louis at the gate. He sees you and Clem. Clem falls to her knees.

You: Clem! You say, running up to her and getting on one knee.

Clem sets AJ down on his back. You put your hand on her back.

You: I told you this wasn't a good idea.

Louis then runs out. Clementine rests her head on your shoulder. Louis makes it to the three of you.

Louis: Shit, is he...?

You: He's alive. He was shot. He's got a fever.

Louis: Come on, let's get him inside.

Clem: I can't.

You look up at Louis.

You: Can you please bring him inside?

You look back at Clem.

You: She can't move.

Louis: Yeah, yeah, don't worry, I got him.

Louis picks him up, turns around, and walks inside.

Louis: It's okay, buddy, I got you.

You look back at Clem with worry.

You: What do you need from me?

Clem: I just...need some help getting in...

You nod.
