Chapter 114: Part Ways

You and Clem are sitting on your bed, thinking.

Clem: I'm gonna miss you.

You: I'm gonna miss you too.

You and Clem look at each other.

You: But it's not like we're saying goodbye. We're just...not seeing each other for a while.

Clem: It's gonna be strange. I kinda always see us going anywhere together.

You: I know we'll both be fine. Besides, we have people to protect us.

Clem: Not a lotta people.

You: But they'll still keep us safe.

Clem looks down.

You: At least you'll get see Gabe again.

She rolls her eyes.

Clem: You're making it SO much better. She says sarcastically.

You chuckle.

Clem: You really think that'll make me feel better about this?

You: I was thinking that you'd like to tease him a bit.

Clem: About us?

You nod.

Clem: We should do that together.

You: Good point--I'd wanna see his face.

Clem giggles.

AJ walks in.

You: Hey, goofball.

AJ: Hey, guys.

He gets on the bed and sits in between you and Clem.

AJ: What're you guys talking about?

You and Clem look at each other. You both look back at AJ.

You: AJ, we, uh...

AJ: What?

You clear your throat.

You: Clem and I are gonna be gone for a while.

AJ: What? How long?

Clem: We don't know.

AJ: Where're you guys going?

You: Clem's gonna be going to Richmond, and I'm gonna be going to a few other communities.

AJ: Are you guys gonna be safe?

Clem: Yes. People will be with us, bud.

AJ: Are you guys leaving for good?

You: What? No. We'll be back in a week or two.

AJ: Am I coming with one of you?

Clem: Uh... No.

AJ: Why?

You: 'Cause it could be dangerous, bud. Clem and I think that it would be safer if you stayed here at the Foundation.

AJ: But I can do it! You taught me how to shoot. I'll be fine. Please let me.

Clementine puts her hand on AJ's shoulder.

Clem: AJ...we're very proud that you want to help out. But you're safer here.

AJ looks down.

You: How about this...?

AJ looks at you.

You: What if you help Jack run things around here and make sure that he's doing a good job?

AJ starts to get excited.
