Part 11: Jail time, Interrogations, Court

Kazuma and Y/n were sitting in their jail cell sleeping until Kazuma suddenly woke up.

Kazuma: WAIT, NO!

Y/n: Ughh. Do you have to be so loud on the morning?

Kazuma: MORNING?!?!? IT'S NIGHT!!! DON'T ACT SO CAREFREE AND COMFORTABLE AFTER BEING ARRESTED!!!

Y/n: Okay. Okay. Just stop yelling. I'm right here.

Kazuma: To think, this is how I'm repayed for saving the town.

Y/n: How did they even catch you anyway?

Kazuma: I went to the guild after Aqua told me some knights from the capital came and I thought I was getting a reward but got arrested. They thought you fled already and were gonna put a bounty on you. Then Aqua said that you were on a date with Megumin.

Y/n: IT WASN'T A DATE!!

Kazuma: Look who's yelling now.

Y/n: Ahem. We just went out for her daily explosion.

Kazuma: Sure man.

Y/n: *sigh* at least I didn't get a bounty placed on me. So what's the plan?

Kazuma: Plan? If we try anything, that'll make things much worse and get me further away from the comfortable life I wanna live.

Y/n: Good point. But still, I could just blast us out of here.

Kazuma: Stop. Your starting to sound like Megumin. Do you guys even know what terrorism is?

Y/n: Hmmmmmmm.

An explosion could be heard in the distance causing the building to shake.

Kazuma: That couldn't have been-

Y/n: Definitely was.

Aqua: Kazuma. Y/n.

They both looked up at the window where Aqua had appeared with a smug look on her face.

Kazuma: Aqua?

Y/n: Did you get arrested too?

Aqua: Wha- NO!

Kazuma: Then what are you doing here?

Aqua: Why do you think? I'm here to save you guys.

Kazuma: Then why didn't you defend me back at the guild?

Aqua: Anyway, Megumin just used her explosion on the outskirts of town to get the guards attention. Darkness should be running with her right now.

Kazuma: Running would just make things worse. Like I was just telling Y/n.

Y/n: Whoa. Don't compare me to Aqua. I'll take offense to that.

Aqua: I hear that treason is punishable by death. Since your both just novice adventurers they'll manipulate truth and go through with the executions.

Y/n: I don't think that's something you should bring up so casually.

Kazuma: What's with this world's justice system. How would we even get out of here?

Y/n: Oh. So running away is a good idea all of the sudden?

Kazuma shot Y/n a damning glare and Aqua threw something into the cell.

Aqua: Use that wire to break out. Then use your stealth skills to escape and we'll meet up at the mansion. After that we leave town to start our new lives. I'll be waiting at the front gate.
