Part 3: Crimson Demon's Trial

Darkness: I originally thought that the trial was about answering riddles.

Darkness spoke in a hesitant, stuttering manner while holding a cup of tea Megumin brewed for her.

Megumin: That was my impression as well, but what could push you to such a state? The chieftain's trial is tough, but it's something that could be overcome with two Crimson Demons. Just what happened? If it's something unfair, I'll go scold them for you.

Megumin gently asked while stroking Darkness's head like she was comforting a crying child.

Darkness: Megumin destroyed all the magic items they used to create riddles. They also said they were tired of riddles, so they decided to go with something else...

Kazuma&Y/n: So it's your fault!

Megumin quickly averted her eyes.

Kazuma: So what exactly did they make you do?

Darkness: 'The most important thing for a Crimson Demon is aesthetics! Strike a pose and name yourselves!' they said, so they made Yunyun and me strike cool poses and name ourselves until they were satisfied.

Kazuma: M-My condolences...

Y/n: Hey, let's put that aside for now and talk about this whole marriage scheme. When did you guys have time to put all that together?

Kazuma: I heard about it recently when we were here.

Aqua: Same here.

Y/n: Then?

Megumin: Hmmmm, I wanna say it was back when Komekko was with us in Axel.

Y/n: That far back?! Wait, I would've noticed something then. There's no way you put all this together without me knowing.

Megumin: Well, there were some moments that seemed obvious, but you never really took them into consideration. Remember when I asked you for your shirt size?

Y/n: My shirt...wait, that was-

Megumin: So Soketto could make your suit. And the letters I was sending home were just small bits of info about you, like your powers and how you'd react to things.

Y/n: Seriously? Wait, why can't you plan like that when we're out on a adventure?

Kazuma: Exactly what I was wondering.

Megumin: Doesn't matter now, since we're officially official.

Y/n: I thought we were already officially official but whatever. To think you had a plan like this in the works...

Megumin simply giggled to herself and looked at the ring on her hand then remembered something.

Megumin: Wait, I should be able to read his mind now, right? At least, that's what I was told the rings do soooooo...

Megumin then began staring at Y/n with great intent.

Y/n: Uhhhhh, is there something on my face or something? Why are you staring at me like that?

Megumin: ...Hmmmm, it's nothing...

Y/n: Doubt, but okay.

Megumin: Am I doing this wrong? Either the ring doesn't work or he had an empty head which I hardly believe.

Yuiyui ended up spending the night in a dungeon, so there were no shenanigans that night.
