Part 16: Kotatsu, Upgrades, Lizards

After celebrating at the guild, the day before Y/n had made his way to Megumins door.

Y/n: Hey, Megumin...you alright?

He was only met with silence.

Y/n: Kazumas worried that your mad at him after the incident but it was all my idea in the end. So you should be mad at me only.

Still nothing came from the room.

Y/n: Cmon Megumin...it was the only way. There was no other cho-

The door flew open with Megumin on the other side. She quickly grabbed Y/ns arm and pulled him into the room closing and locking the door.

Y/n: H-Hey?! Megumin, what are you-

Megumin: Quiet.

Y/n could see the frustration on her face, but it quickly shattered as tears started streaming down her face.

Megumin: I can't take it anymore. WHY DO YOU ALWAYS PUT YOURSELF IN SUCH STUPID SITUATIONS?!?!?!? DO THINK I LIKE WATCHING YOU DIE OR GET HURT?!??!?! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THESE FEELINGS IF YOU WERE TO DISAPPEAR?!?!?! I JUST...I...I can't take it anymore...

Y/n was shocked at the poor girls outburst. He wasn't fond of getting hurt either and really tried to avoid such situations, but seeing the girl in front of him breakdown made him feel terrible.

Y/n: M-Megu-

Megumin: WHAT?! YOUR SORRY?!?! DON'T SAY YOUR SORRY WHEN YOU'LL END UP DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE!!!!

Y/n: I...can't keep any promises. But trust me I don't like dying or getting hurt. It just happens. That's the kind of life we're living.

Megumin: *sniff* But...*sniff* I don't wanna live a life of watching you get hurt. *sniff* I can't handle it. I don't want to be a burden to you or anyone else. I couldn't do anything while you were possessed. All I could do was watch from the side lines.

Y/n: Megumin, I-

Megumin: Please...just stop getting yourself hurt...I can't take it anymore.

Y/n grabbed the crying girl and pulled her into a hug while pressing her head to his chest.

Y/n: Alright Megumin, I'll try not to get hurt anymore. But I can't promise you that I won't. This is nothing but a stop gap. So bear with me for now.

Megumin continued crying into the boy for awhile.

Y/n: Alright I'm gonna head down stairs. Whenever your ready we'll be downstairs.

Megumin: *sniff* okay.

Y/n then left Megumin and headed downstairs.

Megumin: I hope you weren't lying Y/n.

Downstairs

Kazuma: Everything work out?

Y/n: More or less. She was pretty shaken up after the whole thing. By the way, what the hell are you still doing under there?

Kazuma was sitting under the kotatsu near a panting Darkness, while Aqua was lounging on the couch.

Kazuma: I'm enjoying the sweet sensation of relaxation my friend.

Y/n: That much is obvious, but I'm kind of bored. Can't we go on a quest.

Kazuma: Why go on a quest when we have so much money?

Aqua: For once I agree with you Kazuma.

Darkness: *sigh* I've been trying to get them to go on a quest all day, but they won't budge.
