Cherry Blossom Tree | pt. 2

Eunji smiled down at the boy who was resting his head on her lap. Today was Jungkook's day off and the weather was so beautiful. It only made sense to spend some quality time together outside. So Eunji packed a picnic basket and they found each other back under the cherry blossom tree.

She glanced up at the huge tree, decorated with its light pink flowers. It was spring again and the petals of the cherry blossoms fell down with the wind. She couldn't help but to hold out a palm and let a petal fall on to her hand.

Jungkook chuckled at his girlfriend's actions, "You did this too."

"What?" Eunji asked, glancing down to the boy.

He then held out his palm and a pink petal landed on his palm too, "Remember when I first confessed to you."

"Oh I remember," Eunji smiled, thinking back to the memory.

[Flashback]

"Wah, it's so beautiful here," Eunji gasped in delight. She held out her palm to the falling cherry blossom petals, one landing on her palm. Jungkook smiled at how cute she looked.

Eunji showed the petal to Jungkook, "If you catch a petal with your hand, it means that your love will come true."

"Jinja?" Jungkook asked. Eunji nodded and smiled as the boy then put out his hands in hopes to catch a petal. Jungkook frowned, when none of the flower petals came to fall in his palm.

Eunji smiled and placed her petal in Jungkook's hand, "It's okay, Jungkook-ah."

"But I really want my love to come true," Jungkook pouted.

"Well, I'm sure you'll still find it. You don't need a cherry blossom to prove it, it's just for fun," Eunji reassured him.

"Then will you be my girlfriend?" Jungkook then asked, his eyes met hers.

Eunji froze in her place, not having expected Jungkook to be so bold. "M-me?" She barely managed to say.

Jungkook nodded, "Ne. I really like you, Kim Eunji. I've liked you for a long time now, but I was too afraid to say anything before. Please accept me."

Eunji fell silent and Jungkook was afraid that he ruined everything. Before Jungkook could apologize and try to brush off the whole thing, he felt a pair of soft lips make contact with his cheek. His cheeks immediately turned red when Eunji had pulled away with a shy smile on her face.

"I-I like you too, Jungkook-ah," Eunji looked down, meekly. She had a secret crush on him for a while now. But she didn't expect the feelings to be returned.

Suddenly relief washed over the nervous boy, after hearing Eunji's confession. Then he was grinning from ear to ear. The girl he had liked for so long liked him back.

"Thank you," He said, before pulling her in for a real kiss.

[End of Flashback]

"You were right," Jungkook sat up to be face to face with Eunji. "My love did come true."

Eunji blushed, "Mine did too."

The two glanced back up to the cherry blossom tree above them. So many things had happened here. This was the place where they had first kissed. It was the place where they experienced their first heartbreaks. But this cherry blossom tree was also the place where their hearts were mended.

"We've made so many memories here," Eunji sighed, reminiscing all of them. "It's almost unbelievable."

Jungkook nodded in agreement, "And we're only making more memories."

"Yup," Eunji said. She looked back down to see a small black box in Jungkook's hands. Wait, that wasn't there before. Her eyes met his chocolate brown ones, wondering if this was what she thought this one.

As if he read her mind, Jungkook took Eunji's hand in his, "Kim Eunji, I want to keep making these memories with you. I have loved you since the day I met you. I loved every moment that I got to be with you because you always made it special. Then when I thought I had lost you, we still managed to pull through."

"Jungkook-ah . . ." Eunji felt tears building up in her eyes. There were already tears in Jungkook's eyes.

"I realized that I don't want to ever lose you again," He continued. "I've never been so in love with someone as I am with you and I know that you're the one I want to spend my life with."

Jungkook then gently opened the small box where inside was a dazzling diamond ring. A wedding ring. Eunji placed her shaky hand over her mouth. She couldn't believe that this was actually happening right now.

"So Kim Eunji, will you make me the happiest man in the universe and marry me?" Jungkook held his breath.

The tears fell from her eyes, "Y-yes. Yes, I'll marry you, Jungkook-ah."

Jungkook gave her his bunny smile and slipped the ring on her finger. After doing so, he closed the gap between them. Yet another beautiful memory shared. From first love to heartbreak and now to engagement. Eunji didn't think she could ever be this happy and neither did Jungkook.

Under this cherry blossom was where it all started, and under this cherry blossom tree was where it all ended. Beautifully.

I just couldn't help but to think of this song as I was writing it. It was also a song that Jungkook and J-Hope sang when they did karaoke on Run BTS (Episode 56). Anyway, I just wanted to add that XD
