SYNOPSIS

Kim Doyoung is not one for making friends. His harsh and strict world only reminds him of his cold reality, one that forces him to abandon shallow ideals and sparkling goals. He tells himself that his actions are out of duty. So although it may not be what he wishes to do, it is what is right.

However, Lee Taeyong begs to differ. The little things carry as much weight as important decisions. What seems futile is actually meaningful. Although he is different from Doyoung, Taeyong wants to do everything he can to help Doyoung open up.

With a promise locked up deep inside, Taeyong swears that he'll help Doyoung carry out the small wishes he's been hiding in his heart.

NOTES

Hello! Before reading this story, I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to read this so I can explain a bit about the origins of this story. I started writing this when I was 15 years old and finished it when I was 17. Within the two years I wrote this, it started out as a K-pop fanfiction; it was an NCT fanfiction for Dotae shippers. When I started writing it, I was not an NCT fan, I never became one in the process of writing it, and I wasn't one when I finished the story. I had the plot for this story in my head and no characters to start the story. My Nctzen friend asked me to make the main characters off of a ship she really liked, and I decided to just do that because it meant less work for me in terms of character building.

Additionally, again, I was 15 when I started writing this! I was not very aware of how the adult world functioned, so it's entirely possible that many of the places the characters are in their life are unrealistic compared to their age.

I'm not a shipper, so using idols I never was a fan of was basically just cheating so that I wouldn't have to put real work into building characters. When I was 19, I wondered if I should have this story up still for that reason. Thus, I unpublished it for about 2 years and considered rewriting it.

However, I am beyond grateful to Nctzens. They have shown so much love and kindness to this story. This story had a lot of love when it was up, and it's because of the fans of the idols that were originally in the story that it got the attention it did.

I'm now 21 updating this author's note and republishing the story as it was originally written. I'm proud of my younger self to have finished such a long story, and I wish I had the time and creativity to indulge in writing again. I don't know if anyone will read it after it's been collecting dust in my drafts for so long, but if you're here and it's after 2024, thank you for indulging in a creative outlet from my youth.

Thank you so much for choosing to read Sun & Moon. I hope you find it to your liking.
