chapter eight ~ the one with the fight
Heather's POV

Central Perk wasn't the only place that we would all hang out, as the other destination for us all to get together was in Monica's apartment. It was bigger than all of the other apartments and she always made sure that she was stocked up on all of the foods that we liked. The seating area had enough room for all of us and we all felt comfortable while we were there, there was no bad energy in that place and it made me feel welcomed. Not anything like the way that I felt when I was in my own apartment, most of the time I was alone and that made me feel sad. But even when Carl was home from work, I didn't feel comfortable there, ever since our argument, I felt like I was walking on eggshells and that's not how I'm supposed to feel in this relationship. I need to make things better with him but I'm so nervous about the whole situation that I don't know what I could do to make things better. Chandler believed that his issues were bigger than everyone else's because a woman in work had thought that he was gay and he was traumatised over the whole situation.

"I mean, is that ridiculous? Can you believe she actually thought that?"

"Um, yeah." Rachel answered honestly as everyone was thinking the same thing. "Well, I mean, when I first met you, you know, I thought maybe, possibly, you might be..."

"You did?"

"Yeah, but then you spent Phoebe's entire birthday party talking to my breasts so then I figured, maybe not." She shrugged, sipping on her coffee.

"Did any of the rest of you guys think that when you first met me?"

There was a small pause before Monica admitted what she thought. "I did."

"Yeah, I think so." Phoebe added, not seeing what the big deal was.

I noticed my brother staring at me, as if my opinion would count for something but I raised my hands in defence. "Don't look at me, I met you when I was a foetus, literally."

"Not me." Joey said, taking the tension away from the siblings which I was grateful for.

"No, not me either." Ross nodded, before grinning to himself about a memory that had just resurfaced. "But, you know, back in college, Susan Salidor did."

"You're kidding? Did you tell her I wasn't?"

"No. Well, it's just because I kind of wanted to go out with her too, so I told her you were seeing Bernie Spellman, who also liked her." Ross and Joey high five over that moment whereas Chandler is just stuck with a shocked expression on his face.

"Well, this is fascinating. So, uh, what is it about me?"

"I don't know, because you're smart, you're funny-"

"Ross is smart and funny; you think that about him?"

Ross laughed at the whole thing. "Yeah right."
