chapter thirty six ~ the one with the prison jokes
Heather's POVTurns out Marcel, the little monkey who we all hated because he would poop in our shoes and hump the furniture, had become somewhat of a movie star in the animal world. When Ross told us that Marcel was in New York, filming this major film with a bunch of celebrities, none of us believed him because this was the annoying little monkey that would only ever listen to one song and didn't seem as intelligent as Ross made him out to be. Yet, when we all went to the movie set and saw Marcel doing what he was born to do, we all felt slightly proud of the little guy and couldn't believe that we were on this film set because we knew the monkey. My day was spent running after Joey as he chased down whatever casting director he could find, making sure that he didn't say anything inappropriate whilst trying to get himself a job on set.
In some way, I was glad that I had spent the whole day with Joey because if I had stayed with the girls then I would have been right in the middle of whatever fight they were having now. Sometimes my friends acted like such children that it surprised me that they were all older than me and were supposed to be more mature. Instead of having adult conversations about the weather or politics, here we were, trying to calm down two grown women who were fighting. I wasn't sure of the exact reason that they were fighting but from what Phoebe had been able to tell me over the phone, it was something along the lines of, Monica wanted to go out with one of the actors but was too scared to talk to him. So, she sent Rachel to ask for her but when she did, Rachel got distracted and the actor ended up asking her on a date instead.
"Do you really have to go?" Nick groaned, sitting up from his place on the couch as I grabbed my purse and jacket.
"I'm sorry, it's an emergency."
"Your friends arguing over a guy is an emergency?"
I rolled my eyes at him as I pulled my jacket on, and checked that I had everything I needed. "Trust me, Phoebe can handle these two herself. The fact that she called me to help, means that it's an emergency."
"Okay, but is it alright if I stay here? Your TV has a better signal than mine."
I shrugged, leaning down to kiss his cheek. "Sure, you know where everything is. And if I don't get back by eight, lock up. I'll see you tomorrow."
Walking into the dragon's den was something that I wasn't looking forward to doing but I knew that my friends needed me and I needed to help. Phoebe had called me to ask for my help which meant that this was an emergency that she couldn't handle by herself; which scared me even more because she was the kind of person who could handle a situation like this. I didn't know what to expect as I made my way up the stairs of the building, wondering if I would be able to hear their screams from several floors below or if they would be rolling around on the floor like animals. When it came to Monica and Rachel, there were no rules for their fights and it could last forever, plus, somehow, they managed to fight about the craziest things. As I slowly pushed open the door, I was shocked to not hear any shouting from inside and by poking my head around the door, I was pretty sure that no one was dead which was a good thing. I was even more surprised to see that Phoebe had managed to separate the girls, stopping them from arguing as Monica pouted on the couch and Rachel faced the opposite way to her on the coffee table.
