chapter one hundred and nine ~ the one with vegas
Heather's POVJoey and Chandler had planned to go to Vegas together in Phoebe's grandmother's cab and spend the week having fun. But those plans were practically cancelled when everything hit the ceiling and they had a fight on the way to the set. Chandler had said something along the lines of, Joey wasn't a good actor or that he didn't take his job seriously and then Joey had kicked him out of the car, making him walk back to New York by himself. I knew that they needed to sort their problems out but I wasn't going to get involved, this was their problem and they needed to fix it like adults. Something that I could get involved in, was how much I was missing my fiancé and we had barely spoken since he left because of how busy he was. But he had promised that he would have time to speak tonight and I almost jumped off my couch when I heard his voice through the phone. "Hey Heather, what's up?"
I bit my lip, curling the telephone wire around my finger. "Nothing, I just miss you."
"I miss you too." He replied, making my insides melt because his voice was low and raspy, which probably meant that I had woken him up from a quick nap in-between scenes.
"So, what's it like, being a big movie star?"
He began stuttering which made me frown. "Uh, it's great, yeah, really great."
"You don't sound that thrilled about it. Is something wrong?"
"Look, if I tell you something, do you promise not to tell the others?"
"I promise, please, tell me?" I begged, getting worried that something really bad had happened and I couldn't help him because I was in a different state. All I wanted in that second was to be with him and we could sort through this problem together.
"The movie was shut down." He admitted, feeling ashamed with his failing dream but I was just shocked that they would do that.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry. What happened?"
I could practically see him shrugging his shoulders, trying to play off that it wasn't a big deal but I knew how much this movie had meant to him. This was supposed to be his big break and now it was ruined. "They had no money."
"What are you still doing in Vegas?"
"The director told me to stay until they get the set up and running again." I left the phone on the coffee table and tried to find where I had put my suitcase, there was only one way to fix this disaster and it meant that I would have to travel to get there. Joey must have heard the rustling in the background and I heard him call through the phone. "What are you doing?"
I shouted back, hoping he would be able to hear me. "Trying to find my suitcase."
"Why do you need that?"
"Because I'm coming to Las Vegas!" I announced, unzipping my suitcase once I had located it and began packing for everything that I may need to take on a very last-minute trip to visit my fiancé in Las Vegas.
