chapter eighty eight ~ the one with their first time
Heather's POV

London. Definitely not the dream city that I had hoped it would be. It seemed that me and my friends had big hopes for this place when we arrived, and so far, it had not been living up to our expectations. I had failed with my plan to become a bridesmaid and was now working on my backup plan which would ensure that Emily would regret the day that she rejected my service. Chandler seemed grumpier than usual and didn't even want to hang out with us whilst we went around the city sightseeing and Monica didn't seem to be having the best of fun either, now that her parents had arrived on the scene. Then to top it all off, Joey was homesick. He was getting emotional at anything that reminded him of New York and it wasn't helped by a phone call that he had with Phoebe before we all headed to the rehearsal dinner.

We were dressed in some of our nicest outfits, as we had packed our best clothes to come to this city, but even getting dressed up wasn't helping us feel any better because we all felt rubbish about ourselves. Joey and Chandler had both been preparing speeches to give at the dinner, as they were both Ross's best men and had to talk to the guests but neither of them seemed that happy about doing it now that we were here. Monica had stuck with her parents for most of the evening, and didn't seem happy about it and I was just pretending to throttle Emily from the other side of the room. I was so engrossed in the imagery that I almost punched a waiter in the face when he appeared without warning beside me.

"Sir?" He offers a plate of food to Joey, who just stared at it in disgust and I knew that this would just add to his feeling of being homesick.

"What's in it?"

"Goat cheese, watercress and pancetta."

"That's not food. No!" He shouts as the waiter leaves us alone because he didn't get paid enough to stand and listen to abuse from this American. "Everything's different here. I want to go home. I miss my family, I miss the Coffee House, I can't even remember what Phoebe looks like."

"Joey, it's been three days." Chandler tried to calm him down because it was obvious that he was being slightly more dramatic than usual. "You're just a little homesick, try to relax and just enjoy yourself."

"You're different here too." Joey shouted accusingly, pointing a finger in my brother's face before walking away from him. "You're mean in England!"

Somehow, I had managed to calm Joey down, making sure that he had a plate of 'normal' food in front of him, things that we also had in America that I knew he would eat and kept his glass full of whatever they were serving on the table. I knew that Emily wouldn't be happy about me being sat at her main table but she had to put up with it because this was where my friends were sitting and there was no way that I was going to be pushed onto a table with a bunch of people that I didn't know. Sitting with my brother and my friends, was keeping me sane and keeping me from reaching across the table and pulling her hair out. It was in this moment that I wished that Ross was marrying someone else because I was really not a fan of Emily. She just seemed snobbier than I remembered and looked down her nose at us as we tucked into our food, I also didn't like her parents, who were trying to get Mr and Mrs Geller to pay for renovations made to their house which was just preposterous. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, it was time for the best man speeches.
