chapter eighty five ~ the one with the dream dress
Heather's POVWedding preparations were happening a lot faster than any of us had anticipated and to me, it just felt like Ross was rushing into something that he wasn't ready for. He hadn't even been with Emily for that long and they were making plans to spend the rest of their lives together; that just seemed like too much for me to handle. So, I tried to stay out of the way when it came to wedding preparations, still not completely over what had happened to me when I had gotten engaged, and then found out that my fiancé had been cheating on me the entire time. But when Monica pleaded for help to pick up Emily's wedding dress, I couldn't turn the opportunity down. When I had been engaged, I hadn't even made it to the stage where you find the perfect dress and had never stepped foot into a wedding dress store; even if it was for someone else, I couldn't turn this opportunity down.
"Oh my God." Monica awed, running her hand along the materials of the dresses as she waited for Phoebe and I to catch up, she had practically run into the shop and we weren't as fast as she was. "Oh, look at this one. Oh, it's so beautiful."
"You know, about half of these are going to end up getting divorced." Phoebe shrugged, as if it didn't even matter to her but that slightly dampened the mood for the day as we were less excited about getting married now that we thought that it meant getting divorced.
"May I help you ladies?"
Monica nodded, stepping forward to talk to the woman, whilst Phoebe and I looked around at the dresses on the rack next to us. "Yes, I'm here to pick up a dress that you have on hold."
"What's the name, please?"
"Emily Waltham." She answered, still admiring the room full of beautiful dresses.
"Oh yes, I have it right here. Would you like to try it on, Miss Waltham?"
That caught our attention because Phoebe and I both knew that Monica wasn't the bride, but she had many fantasies about her own wedding and wanted to have that feeling today. So, we weren't really surprised by her answer. "Okay."
Monica tried on the wedding dress that was actually picked out by Emily, and even though it wasn't the perfect dress for her; neither of us could stop ourselves from getting emotional at the sight of her in the beautiful dress. It fitted her perfectly and she really looked like a real bride, whoever married her would be lucky and I just hoped that I would be right in the centre of that wedding. Because if one person could plan the perfect wedding, then it would be Monica and I would want to have an important role in the event; if she didn't make me a bridesmaid then I would never forgive her because it was my dream to be someone's bridesmaid. Currently, the only wedding that I had ever been to was the one between Carol and Susan and as lovely as that was, I didn't have a special part so I was counting on my friends to give me special parts on their wedding days.
