chapter nine ~ the one with thanksgiving
Heather's POV

Carl had banned me from seeing any of my friends but this week was Thanksgiving and luckily for me, he was on a business trip, which meant that I could spend the holiday with my friends and he would never have to know about it. When he left, he gave me strict instructions of what I could do for the whole week; all of them included staying on my own in the apartment and I tried to make sure that I got them all done so that when he came back, he wasn't suspicious about who I had been with. I had to make sure that he didn't find out that I had been with my friends for the holiday and I had to make sure that my friends didn't find out that my boyfriend was basically controlling everything that I could and couldn't do.

"Hey." Monica said as she walked into Central Perk and dropped her purse on the table next to the couch, one positive about Carl being away was that I was able to spend time in the coffee house again and I had definitely missed the place.

"Hey." Everyone greeted her as they sat comfortably on the couch around the coffee table.

"Ross, did you know that Mom and Dad are going to Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving?"

"No, they're not." He replied, seriously.

"Yes, they are, the Bryman's invited them."

"You're wrong."

"I am not wrong." Monica laughed breathlessly, not believing that her brother didn't believe her.

"You're wrong."

"No, I just talked to them."

"I'm calling Mom." Ross said as he ran over to the counter to find out what was really happening with his Thanksgiving plans, just as Joey walked into the coffee house.

"And this from the cry-for-help department, are you wearing makeup?"

"Yes, I am." He said proudly. "As of today, I am officially Joey Tribbiani, actor slash model."

"That's so funny because I was thinking you look more like Joey Tribbiani, man slash woman." Chandler laughed, proud of the joke that he had made whilst the rest of us just rolled our eyes at his childish behaviour.

"What were you modelling for?" Phoebe questioned.

"You know those posters for the city free clinic?"

"Wow!" Monica sounded impressed. "So, you'll be one of those healthy, healthy, healthy guys?"

"You know, the asthma guy's really cute."

I nodded in agreement before turning to him. "Do you know which one you'll be?"

"No, but I hear Lyme disease is open, so..."

"Good luck man, I hope you get it." Chandler said, patting his shoulder before realising what he had actually said.

"Thanks."
