chapter thirty five ~ the one with the dedicated fan
Heather's POV

It was just another day in New York, when we had all finished work for the day and were relaxing at Monica and Rachel's apartment. The television was on because we had planned on having a movie night, something that we rarely ever do because everyone is usually really busy with other plans. But tonight, we all made sure that we had time to spare and we were planning on spending the entire night together. Joey had shot-gunned the armchair so that he could slouch as much as he liked and Chandler was perched on the coffee table but when the movie came on, he was going to move to the floor. Monica, Ross and Rachel were on the couch, waiting for the night to begin as everyone just wanted some time to relax for once instead of being worried about work or about their love life. Which left, Phoebe and I making the snacks for the evening; when we had finished, we were going to take our seats with the others. I had already agreed to sit on the floor with chandler because as long as we had pillows and blankets then it would be comfortable and Phoebe was going to squeeze on the couch with the others.

"That commercial always makes me so sad." Ross said, after watching the beer commercial which contained a little monkey which was supposed to force people into buying that particular brand.

Joey shrugged from the armchair, not understanding why Ross was so depressed about the beer commercial. "Yeah, but then the guy opens his beer and those girls run at him; so, everything seems to work out okay."

"I meant, because the monkey in it reminds me of Marcel."

"I can see that." Phoebe said, taking the bowl of popcorn and sitting between Monica and Rachel on the couch. Whereas I made myself comfortable on the floor, waiting for chandler to join me but he was emersed in this conversation about the monkey and who knew if we were ever going to watch a movie. "Because they both have those big, brown eyes and the little pouty chin."

"And the fact that they're both monkeys." Monica rolled her eyes.

"Sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing, giving him away."

"Ross, you had to." Rachel said, sighing as she remembered just how much of a handful little Marcel was when he was living in the city; I for one, didn't miss the little troublemaker. "He was humping everything in sight."

"Well, Joey does that too and we still keep him around." I joked, smirking when Joey glared at me from the other side of the room.

"Heather, I have a Malibu Barbie who will no longer be wearing white to her wedding." Rachel snapped and I raised my hands in surrender, that wasn't my fault.

"Remember when, sometimes, he'd borrow your hat and when you got it back there'd be little monkey raisins in it?"

"Yeah, sure, when he did it, it was funny." Chandler groaned, still perched on the coffee table and the longer that we discussed the monkey, then the more likely it was that we weren't going to watch the movie because this discussion would never end. Something that was a usual occurrence when I was with my friends as we could never do anything that we planned. "When I did it in my boss's hat? All of a sudden, I had this big attitude problem."
