chapter eighteen ~ the one with poop in a shoe
Heather's POVMarcel the monkey was a strange creature and was one that I just couldn't seem to get on with because he wasn't like a cat or a dog. I would have been more excited if Ross had gotten one of those pets because I could never understand when a monkey seemed like a good idea. I could have helped train a dog or give treats to a cat but Marcel is more like a tiny human and none of us are ready for that kind of pressure. Then again, I keep forgetting that Ross is going to become a Father in just a few months, which is still really scary and doesn't seem real yet. Whenever Ross wanted someone to look after Marcel, I made sure that I was busy because looking after a monkey was not on my bucket-list and it never would be. That thing was too much trouble and if something bad happened then it would be my fault. I promised to make it up to Ross when he had his son, because looking after a baby is something I would do. I would be fine with a baby but I wasn't comfortable with a monkey.
This time, Rachel was the one to look after Marcel but right when Ross was supposed to be picking him up, she was banging on the door of the apartment and needed help. I rushed over, Monica was already there and we found out that she had lost the monkey. Both of us knew that Ross would be devastated with the news and wouldn't trust Rachel with anything like this again because if she couldn't take care of his pet for one afternoon then he couldn't trust her with his child. So, we knew that we needed to find him as soon as possible and that was when backup arrived because we needed as much help as possible.
"How could you lose him?" Joey asked, shocked that Rachel was the first one to mess up with the babysitting routine.
"I don't know, I don't know. We were watching TV and then he pooped in Monica's shoe..."
"Wait, he pooped in my shoe?" Monica was shocked, her jaw dropped as she demanded to know more about her poopy shoe. "Which one?"
"I don't know. The left one."
"Which ones?"
"Oh, oh those little clunky Amish things you think go with everything." Rachel dismissed her worry but hurt Monica's feelings with that comment, luckily, we were all distracted as Phoebe made her entrance into the apartment and immediately knew that something was wrong.
"Hey. Woah, why is the air in here so negative?"
"Rachel lost Marcel." Chandler said, very smug that he wasn't the one to do it.
"Oh no! How?"
Monica stepped in front of her and changed the focus. "He pooped in my shoe!"
"Which one?" Phoebe questioned.
"Those cute little black ones I wear all the time."
"No, which one? The right or left? Because the left one is lucky."
