chapter eighty one ~ the one with spin the bottle
Heather's POVAfter a long day of work, I decided to pop over to Chandler and Joey's bigger apartment and hopefully spend some time with my more-than-a-friend-friend but when I walked through the door, I was confused to see that the place had kind of been set up as some sort of party. Most of the people there seemed happy, although there weren't many guests and Ross looked as though he was at a funeral rather than a party. Monica informed me that this was a 'Bon-Voyage' party for Emily because she was heading back to England but the truth was that it was a cover up party as Rachel had wanted a reason to invite Joshua over and couldn't just ask him on a date. So, now everyone was pretending that we really cared about Emily, who I had only ever met once and she was super rude to me; when really none of us wanted to be there.
My eyes wandered over to the table where the food had been set up and my mouth almost watered at the sight. "Oh, I'm starving. What have we got?"
"Everything, literally everything." Phoebe answered as she was sat next to the table and seemed frustrated about something. "Including this array of meat, which I can't eat so I'm sitting here and watching everyone else eat so that the baby will be happy."
"Is it working?"
She pointed at the meat on the table. "Eat that slice of turkey and I'll let you know."
Not wanting to get on her bad side, I did as she said and ate the slice of turkey, swallowing before asking her. "Did it work?"
"No." Phoebe snarled, angry that she couldn't eat the meat because she was vegetarian but the baby was craving that exact food and anything else that she ate made her sick.
"What are you eating?"
Joey looked up from his creation for a moment but my eyes were fixed on the thing that he was making as he was shoving all sorts of meat into that bread. "A sandwich, do you want me to make you one?"
"That would be great, thanks."
"Wait, you're making Heather food?" Phoebe complained, her eyes narrowing in suspicion at us but we tried to stay calm and not overreact. "You never make me food and I'm pregnant!"
"Do you want me to make you a sandwich?"
"No, I'm not hungry."
Whilst I was waiting for my sandwich to get made, I decided that now would be a good time to introduce myself to Emily as we hadn't had a proper conversation yet and she was dating one of my friends. When I observed her from a distance, she seemed to be in a much better mood than last time and had had a few conversations with my other friends, so maybe that night we had caught her at a bad time. Hopefully this conversation would work out better than the last one because I didn't want to hate another girlfriend of one of my friends but it seemed to be an increasing pattern that I couldn't avoid. First there was Janice, but her faults were very obvious and everyone else hated her too. Kathy was another woman that I didn't like, there was just something about her that I couldn't understand and then she cheated on two of my friends. Now, Emily, her first impression wasn't great but I was going to give her another chance because Ross wasn't very lucky in love and I felt sorry for him. I hoped that someday he would find the right person for him, he seemed to really like Emily but I didn't get the vibe that she was his forever person; she seemed to just be the right person for now.
