chapter ninety four ~ the one with apartment listings
Heather's POV

Emily and Ross's marriage was over, they were getting divorced and even though Ross was appalled that he was going to be a divorced man again, we all knew that it was the best decision to make. They weren't happy in this marriage and it wasn't fair to either of them to be tied to each other when there was no love involved; they needed to move on and hopefully it would be sooner or later. However, the divorce wasn't great for everyone as Ross was kicked out of the apartment that he was staying in; it wasn't much of a surprise, seeing as he had been lodging with Emily's cousin but it was still irritating for my friend, who didn't have a place to live. So, that was how Ross started living with Joey and Chandler, everyone thought that it was going okay until I received a visit from the owners of the place, who seemed desperate for my help. "What's up?" I asked, opening the door wider so that they could come inside. "Should I be worried that both of you are here?"

"We need your help." Chandler answered, frantically and neither of them had stopped pacing since they entered the room which wasn't helping with my worries.

"Okay, that doesn't make me any less worried."

"It's about Ross-"

Joey interrupted my brother as he was obviously distraught. "We need him out!"

"I thought you liked the idea of you all being roommates? Isn't it like living the dream or something? Three best friends, all living in the city together."

"No!" My boyfriend yelled, pointing a warning finger at me. "You'd think that it would be, but it isn't!"

"Chandler, you lived with him in college." I tried to reason with them, thinking that they were just being overdramatic like usual and they couldn't be serious. "How can you not manage now?"

"He's like a different person. His boxes are everywhere, he won't let us play foosball and he's changed the answering machine!"

"To what?"

Joey reached down to my phone and dialled their apartment number into the pad, then we waited until it beeped with the recorded answer machine which Ross had obviously changed. "We will, we will, call you back!" I couldn't help but laugh, finding the whole thing hilarious. "Oh my God, that is gold!"

"Do you want to live with him?" Chandler snapped, running a hand down his face.

"No!" I answered sharply, not wanting that punishment. "I don't get it though, what can I do?"

"You can find him an apartment. Find him somewhere else to live, please?"

Joey put his hands together and begged. "I'll do anything, please?"

"Anything, huh?" I smirked, raising an eyebrow as Joey stepped closer, the same smirk etched on his face; both of us thinking about different ways that he could make it up to me.
