The day before the fundraiser I received a call from Alex and he urgently called me to the school theater. I called his name a few times before he appeared from behind the curtains.
"What's up? What was so urgent?" I asked him, worried.
"Uhhmm, I need your help," He said scratching the back of his head.
"With what?" I asked him
"I wanted to ask Stacy, for the fundraiser," He said nervously and then I think he kinda blushed
"Oh, your adorable puppy! You are nervous and blushing! I am dying! This is so cute" I gushed over it
"Hey excuse me! No, I am not, Maybe I am a little nervous. And don't call me a puppy" He widen his eyes at me, embarrassed.
"So are you gonna help me or not?" He asked me
"Of course, I will! My best friends are falling in loveeeee" I sang
"Oh shush, You overdramatic ass" He rolled his eyes at me
"Okay fine, but only on one condition," I said
"What?" He looked at me curiously
"You both are gonna name your daughter after me," I said, winking at me and grinning as big as I can
"Oh come on! You talk like Stacy, you know that?" He said
"Hell, I do. She is my best friend. You should have been worried if I didn't" I said and he laughed, shaking his head
"So are you helping me or not?" He asked me again
"What's the plan?" I asked him
After a few hours. I called Stacy to see if she could meet me. I waited for her to arrive.
"What's up?" She asked me
"Where have you been the whole day?' I ask her
"Here? In school. We had the same first period together, remember?" She looked at me confused
"Oh yeah! I forgot" I said trying to act normal and not suspicious at all.
"Hey and by the way, have you seen Alex anywhere?" She asked me "He hasn't been picking up my calls all morning"
"Yeah, No," I said and then my phone beeped. This was my cue from Alex.
"You know what... Maybe I know where to find him. Come on" I said and dragged her into the theater room
"Okay. Hey! slow down," She said but I didn't listen
"Where are you taking me, at least tell me," She said but I ignored her again
I pushed the theater room door open. Stacy was saying something to me but then she went silent.
She let out a small gasp. Alex was standing at the center of the stage, wearing a white shirt and black pants with a bouquet of red roses and sunflowers mixed. The wall behind him was lit up by big bulbs with yellow lights. And the stairs were lit with candles.
"Oh god, Alex," She said as she rested a hand on her heart. She then looked at me. I could see the glistening in her eyes. I nodded at her, pushing her forward.
"Hi" She whispered and giggled, she was nervous.
"Hi," Alex said, also nervous.
I slowly took a step back near the door and slipped out, not wanting to intrude on their moment. But I was so happy and I felt pretty proud of how everything turned out. Alex looked so handsome and we got a better reaction from Stacy than expected. It was a big win.
