Katie Bell had been cursed. She was cursed at the last Hogsmeade, the Hogsmeade where Carina was in her little bubble with Fred and where Orion was sharing his first kiss with George. The Hogsmeade where Carina felt her most safe. She almost felt sick at that thought. As if the memory had been tainted.
Carina was sat on her own on the great hall that morning waiting for Blaise and Draco to come in. She hadn't seen them and wanted to make sure they were ok after hearing about Katie Bell being cursed —people had been blaming the Slytherins and Carina wasn't best pleased about it.
She was attempting at rereading her Defence essay but she couldn't read her own handwriting back as she felt stressed and the more she even thought about anything other than defence the more her attention was taken away from it.
She slumped her head on the table and took a few deep breaths. She really wanted to try her best with this essay as it was an important one and Snape said he'd be marking it as if they were NEWT exam answers. She really felt flustered about it though. She felt a hand on her back and jumped, she saw Draco smiling down at her.
"Are you ok?" He asked gently
"Can you read my essay? I'm getting all flustered and can't process or even read my handwriting back," she huffed
"Of course I can Carrie. Move up," he sat down next to her and rubbed her back gently checking over her essay
Across the room, Potter, Ron and Granger were sat at the table but Potter had been glaring daggers at Carina and Draco. He didn't even realise that Granger and Ron had been talking to him until Granger snapped her fingers in his face.
"Honestly Harry, we're trying to talk—"
"Do you think Carina is assisting Malfoy? Do you think she knew that Katie Bell was going to be cursed?" He asked
"Harry," Ron had warned —for some reason he'd developed a bit of a soft spot for Carina in recent weeks, whenever she passed him in a corridor she would always smile at him "Carina couldn't have done anything because she met with Fred and was with Phillips, Lee and George when they'd finished their date," Ron said
"What about after they left? Surely—"
"No because remember we saw her talking to Slughorn with Fred, Ron wanted to go say hello but we told him not too because Slughorn would talk to you again!" Granger scolded "Carina is lovely. She was a delight when she came around the burrow in the summer, I think you ought to leave her out of this silly theory of yours!"
