Shaak Ti came to me in the library after the council finished their meeting. "Y/n, I need to speak with you."

"What is it?" I asked. "It's about the council and your friend Palpatine." She said. "I swear I didn't ask to be put on the council." I defended myself. Shaak Ti looked around and led me away from the people around us. "Y/n, I am on your side. I didn't want to put you in this situation."

"What situation?" I asked. She paused, "The council wants you to report on all the Chancellor's dealings. They want to know what he's up to."

I kept my composure, but on the inside I was shocked at their request. "They want me to spy on the Chancellor? That's treason." Shaak Ti said, "We are at war, y/n."

"Why didn't the council give me this assignment while I was there?" I questioned. "This assignment is not to be on record." She answered.

"The Chancellor isn't a bad man, Master. He befriended me and has watched out for me." I defended my friend. "That's why you must help us. Y/n, our allegiance is to the Senate, not it's leader who has managed to stay in office long after his term has expired."

"The Senate demanded that he stay longer."

"Yes, but use your feelings y/n. Something is out of place." I sighed, "You're asking me to do something against the Jedi code, against the Republic, against a mentor and a friend. Why are you asking this of me?"

"The council is asking you."

-

"Anakin?" I was on his chest. "Hm?" His eyes were closed and had one arm behind his head, the other on me. I could hear his steady heart beat.

"Why do they ask things of me, but yet they don't trust me?" I stay on his chest, drawing circles on his tunic. "I don't know. I voted for them not to, but they voted to."

My head sprung up, "Do you want to go to Naboo?" Anakin's eyebrows rose, "Like right now?"

"Yeah. We could buy a house now. I'm about to pop any day, so why not?" I suggested. "I don't know y/n. What if they need us?" He questioned. "Who cares? We'll just say we went to inspect our troop's gear."

Anakin laughed and sat up, "Okay. I'll gather whatever credits I have and get a ship." I smiled, "We're doing it." Anakin leaned in and kissed me. He put his forehead against mine, "We're doing it."

My com link started going off, making me break away from him. Reading who it was, I answered with caution. "Hello Chancellor." He smiled, "Hello y/n. Are you busy tonight?"

Anakin looked at me confused. "No, I'm free." I lied. "Good. I would like for you to come and watch 'Squid Lake' with me at the theater."

"I'll be there. Thank you." I bowed before ending the transmission.

"Anakin, I'm sorry." I went back to him. He sighed, "It's okay. I understand what you have to do. I'll wait for you, then we can go whenever you want."

Kissing him, I smiled, "Thank you. I have to go. I love you." He smiled, "I love you too."

-

The traffic was more than I thought, making me late to the production. Getting out of my speeder, I hurried up the steps the fastest a pregnant woman could go. Everyone around me was dressed elegantly while I wore my Jedi robes.

Walking down the hall, I made it to the Chancellor's booth. "You wanted to see me, Chancellor?" I asked. "Yes, y/n. Come closer, I have good news." Stepping closer, I knelt down next to him.

"Our clone intelligence units have discovered the location of General Grievous. He's hiding in the Utapau system." He informed me. "Finally. We can capture that monster and end this war." I said relieved.

"I would worry about the collective wisdom of the council if they didn't select you for this assignment. You're the best choice by far." He said. Moving my eyes away from the aquatic ballet, I looked at him.

"Sit down." He offered. "Leave us." He told the lady sitting next to him. She obeyed and left, leaving us two. I took a seat next to him.

"Y/n, you know I'm not able to rely on the Jedi Council. If they haven't included you in their plot, they will soon." He spoke. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"You must sense what I have come to suspect. The Jedi Council want control of the Republic. They're planning to betray me." He explained. "I don't think that-" I was cut off. "Y/n, search your feelings. You know, don't you?"

"I know they don't trust you." I said. "Hmm. Or the Senate. Or the Republic, or democracy, for that matter." He added. "I have to admit, my trust in them has been shaken."

"Why?" He asked. I didn't reply, then he knew, "They asked you to do something that made you feel dishonest, didn't they? They asked you to spy on me, didn't they?"

"I don't know what to say." I replied. "Remember back to your early teachings. All who gain power are afraid to lose it. Even the Jedi."

"The Jedi use their power for good." I told him. "Good is a point of view, y/n. The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way. Including their quest for greater power."

"The Sith rely on their passion for their strength. They think only about themselves." I said. "And the Jedi don't?" He questioned. "The Jedi are selfless. They only care about others." Turning my head back to the show, there was an uncomfortable silence between us.

"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?" He asked. "No."

"I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a dark lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi chlorians to create life. He had such knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying."

"He could save people from death?" I was astonished. "The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural."

"What happened to him?" I asked. "He became so powerful that the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power. Which he did eventually. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep."

"Is it possible to learn this power?"

"Not from a Jedi."
