Chapter 64

The sound of muffled beeping and liquid woke me up. Finding myself in a bacta tank, oxygen mask, and in my bra and underwear, I floated to the top of the tank and knocked on the glass.

A lady with light hair helped me out of the tank and sat me down on a bed with a towel wrapped around myself. She sat in a chair in front of me. "Where am I? Who are you?" I asked looking around the pale room.

"You're on Onderon and I'm Dr. Janeska. Do you not remember how you got here?" She questioned. Trying to remember past events, it took me awhile until I regained my memories. "My friends. Are they okay?" I asked urgently and shot up from my pillow. "They're fine. One man brought you here while the others fought off the droids. He's known as Master Skywalker." She explained. "How long have I been here?"

"A week." She answered. Holding my forehead with my hand, I took a deep breath. "You need to rest. Stress isn't good for the baby."

My breathing hitched. What did she just say?

"What did you just say?" My eyes were wider than ever. "The baby. You didn't know?" She asked. I stayed quiet. "Is the Father here? Do you want to tell him?" She asked gently. Shooting up out of the bed, I stood in front of her and held my hand to her head, "You will not say a single word about this."

She moved my hand out of the way, "Your Jedi mind tricks don't work on me. I wont say anything, I promise. But it's better to not keep this a secret." She told me. "Thank you." Some of the weight on my shoulders lifted, while the rest stayed. "I need to go." I grunted as I walked to get my clothes. "No, the fight can wait. You need to lay down and rest until you feel better." The Doctor explained.

"Fine." She came and helped me back to bed. Laying back down, I adjusted to where I was comfortable with the bandages wrapped around my shoulder and thigh. Before I could do anything else, exhaustion came over me, allowing me to fall back asleep.

"Can we see her?" I heard someone ask. Opening my eyes, I saw Anakin and Caleb standing outside the door. "She's sleeping right now. Maybe later." The Doctor told them. "I'm awake." I sat up and stretched my arms and legs, then remembering by wincing at the pain.

They barged past her and came to the bed and hugged me. "I'm so happy you're okay." Caleb sniffled. Breaking away, I looked at his face. "You're crying? Why?" I held his face and wiped his tears away. "You weren't breathing when we got to you. Master Skywalker urged us to stay and fight while he brought you here. I thought the worst had happened to you." He admitted.

I gave him a smile, "I'm alright Caleb. I'm proud of you." He nodded, "Thank you Master. I'll let you guys talk." Caleb headed to the door and left. Dr. Janeska moved to another room, allowing Anakin to kiss me. Returning the kiss, he placed his hand on my cheek, "I thought I lost you." He spoke.

"I wouldn't leave that easily." I chuckled. "Please, don't make jokes. Not right now." Anakin inhaled. "Anakin, I'm okay. What's wrong?" I questioned. He sat on the bed, "You're trembling. Something is wrong and you're not telling me." He studied my face. "Nothing is wrong. I'm just worked up is all."

Anakin shook his head, "No. Theres something else. What is it?" I have to tell him. 

"I-" Caleb hurried through the doors, "They're here. We got to go." Anakin stood up and grabbed my clothes, "We have to go." I was confused, "Who's here?" He explained as he put my undershirt and pants on, "The Republic. Our original ship got destroyed on their way back, but we ended up giving Onderon back to the rebels. Lux is even making Onderon part of the Republic again."

"Thats amazing. I'm proud of them." I said. "Me too." Anakin didn't seem as happy as I was, probably because I didn't tell him. He unplugged me from the machine and scooped me up in his arms with the rest of my things. Giving him a look, he asked, "What? You can't walk." I admitted, "You're right." I put my hand behind his head and gently pushed him to where his ear was by my mouth and whispered, "I'll tell you back home."

He lifted his head up and nodded. His mood shifted. Leaving the room, I looked back and saw Dr. Janeska watching us with her arms crossed and smirking. Turning the corner, Anakin and I left the building and went to the ship that was taking us home.

"General." Bodhi and Rex saluted as Anakin carried me into the ship. He sat me on a bed by the cockpit, "I'm gonna look after you." I sat up and grunted, "I don't need a babysitter. I'll be fine." He smirked, "Whatever you say." Staring at him, I said, "Stop that." Anakin acted innocent, "Stop what?"

Prior to arguing, Ahsoka came up to us, "Hello Master. I'm glad you're okay." Directing my eyes to her, I smiled, "Thank you, Ahsoka. Did you learn anything on this mission?" I asked. Her face lowered as well with Anakin's, "Yeah.." Watching both of them, I asked, "What happened?"

"Steela's gone because of me. I couldn't save her. She fell out of my grip." Ahsoka revealed. My mouth opened, letting out an inaudible gasp. "I'm so sorry." I held Ahsoka's hand. Ahsoka wiped her eyes. "Ahsoka, did you do everything you could?" I questioned.

"Yes. But a droid shot my arm and I lost my grip on her. She fell to her death!" She blurted. "Ahsoka, it was not your fault. You did everything you could. Do not feel responsible for this." I advised. "Yes Master." She sniffled. "You're a good person Ahsoka. You didn't do anything wrong." I told her.

"Yes Master. Thank you." She gave me a slight smile. Rex and Bodhi walked into the ship and sat beside me on the other wall. "We're happy you're okay, General." Bodhi said. "Thank you." I smiled.

"How about we go home?" Anakin asked. "I'd like that." Caleb replied. "Yes please." Ahsoka said. Anakin went into the cockpit and told the pilot's to take off. He came back out and sat along with the others, keeping his eyes on me the whole way back home.
