Chapter 77

Anakin met C3PO at the bottom of the ship. He stopped and heard 3PO start speaking, but he didn't listen. Instead his eyes were across the platform, on her ship. The ship she had flown so many times in battles.

He looked down at her saber in his hand and how she used to hold it. How it looked so elegant in her hands. Anakin couldn't help but smile when he remembered her excitement the day she made it.

"Master Ani?" 3PO asked, taking him out of his thoughts. "What?" He asked. "Where is y/n? Should we wait for her?"

"No. She's gone 3PO. Let's leave before anyone shows up." Anakin told the droid. "Oh.." 3PO responded. They walked on the ship and sat in the cockpit. "3PO, tend to the children." Anakin instructed the droid.

"Will do, sir." 3PO got up from the chair and left the room. The door slid shut behind him. Anakin put his elbows on the control panel and placed his face in his hands.

Breathing slowly, he tried to recap what happened. He could hardly believe it. It was when he heard the roaring of a ship he adjusted his hands on the controls. The ship quickly took off and left the miserable planet, leaving Kreia and whoever else landed there.

Out in space, Anakin set the coordinates back to Bail Organa's ship and sent the ship into hyperspace. Standing up, he left the cockpit and went to the children. His children.

Walking into the small room, 3PO spoke, "Master Ani, the children are doing wonderful." Anakin replied, "Thank you, 3PO. Can you go check up on the ship? I think something is wrong with it somewhere."

3PO nodded affirmatively, even though Anakin knew nothing was wrong with the ship. He just wanted to spend time with his children alone.

He took a seat next to their beds and held both of their hands with his. "I don't know what to do." Anakin admitted to his newborn babies, lowering his head. "I don't know how this is going to work, but I promise I won't give up on you two. Ever." He said strictly.

Anakin knew the children don't understand nor would remember this when they are older. He told them this to reassure himself. If Kreia survives, he knew she would chase after them.

"You two are going to make it through this new world. With or without me. You will be strong and you will be brave." Anakin didn't know how his relationship with his kids would end up, but in case anything happens he wanted to tell them this.

"We will be okay." Anakin told them. Those words reminded him of y/n and when they found out she was pregnant. What they would do with the kids. What happened to her- to them. It stung remembering those words associated with y/n, but he knew it had to be different now.

"Master Ani, the ship is perfectly fine. I don't know what made you think-"

"Thank you, 3PO." Anakin said as he kept his eyes on his children. The ship began beeping, making Anakin stand up and let go of their hand's. He turned around and walked past 3PO and went to the cockpit. The Chosen One sat down and clicked different controls, taking the ship out of hyperspace.

Coming out, they saw Bail Organa's ship ahead of them. Flying closer, they made contact with him. Allowing them to enter his ship, Bail met them at the door. "Y/n?" He questioned and noticed his ashy and hole-burnt tunic.

The Chosen One shook his head no and felt the Senator's sadness. "I'm sorry." Anakin replied, "We need to figure out what to do next. Has Yoda or Obi Wan contacted you?"

"They've returned awhile ago from fighting the Emperor. Sadly, they weren't able to destroy him." He answered. Anakin and Bail went to the kids and got them before leaving the ship. Anakin held Luke and Bail held Leia while they walked through the glossy white hallway. They entered into a room where Yoda and Obi Wan were sitting at a glass table. They looked tired and exhausted.

"What do we do now?" Anakin asked as he positioned himself in the chair. "Separated, the children must be." Yoda spoke. "What? You can't do that!" Anakin yelled. He was afraid of never seeing them again, never being a family, being alone. "If the Emperor or Kreia can sense you and them they will come after you." Obi Wan explained to his former apprentice. "Let them come. I'm not leaving my children." Anakin declared.

"Anakin.." Obi Wan looked at him with careful eyes. "I can't. They're all I have left." Anakin choked with tears forming in his eyes. The Chosen One hasn't cried nor felt this type of pain in a very long time. "I know this is hard, but think of whats best for them. Do you want them to be taken by the Emperor? Trained for evil?" Obi Wan questioned.

"I didn't want any of this." Anakin responded quietly. "I know. I'm sorry Anakin, but we can't change what happen. We must think of the future for us and the children." Obi Wan reminded him. All Anakin did was keep his eyes on his children for a few moments before asking, "Where would they go?"

"My wife and I have always wanted a baby girl. We've been talking about adopting. We will happily raise her. She will be safe with us, I promise." Bail said. Leia's father didn't respond to Bail's request, only kept his eyes on her. Her big brown eyes met his and she formed a smile.

Leia had features from her mother and some from her father. Anakin had no doubt that Leia was the one kicking in y/n's stomach. "Will I be able to see her?" As a father, Anakin felt like he shouldn't have to ask that, but he did. "Of course you can." Bail answered.

"For safety, limited, your visits should be." Yoda added. "What about Luke? Where will he go?" Anakin asked. "To his family on Tatooine, send him." Yoda answered. "No. No one should have to grow up there." Anakin rejected. "Then where will he go?" Obi Wan asked. "With me!" Anakin yelled, trying to persuade them.

"Anakin you know that can't happen. For your sake and his. Kreia and the Emperor know you hated Tatooine and they wouldn't suspect a Senator having a child." Obi Wan said, attempting to comfort his friend. His friend who wanted to take down this whole ship and destroy everything he could.

Instead, Anakin pleaded to Bail, "Keep my baby girl safe. Please."
