I never looked up.

I hated the glistening lights above.

I hated how they listen to the praise of others but never ours. Never to the ones who lived with the darkness.

It only answer ours after many years of waiting.

And I only fell in love with the stars the moment I saw her eyes. Her eyes that reflects the color of the sky that glances down to this world and sees through every creature. She's the one who has been listening. The daughter of the stars is mine. She glowed beautifully in darkness completing the sky of the night.

---

Many centuries ago...

"Ama! Ama! Nandito na sila!"

I folded the last letter my father asked me to do to be passed on to the kingdoms near us.

It's been a while since they ask for our coven to send critiques. They don't bother this past months. They are aware that the Levinthes clan has no longer have the interest to associate with any treaty.

"Ama!"

Bumuntong hininga ako at tumayo mula sa upuan. I arranged the folded papers and set them aside before turning around with a scorn. What is it this time?

"Ama! Ama--Nasaan si ama, kuya?"

Maeve appeared rushing inside the room. Her hair's braid was ruined again. Her wavy gown was dented and she's barefoot again. And on her one hand, pulling our younger sister's arm to follow her. Little Vienna biting her thumb innocently followed her.

I grunted walked towards them. Maeve's eyes stopped looking for father and apologetically glanced up to me.

"Sinabi niyang sumama!" She pointed Vienna and pouted. "Marunong na naman siyang tumakbo, kuya..."

I raised a brow to her before turning away. I put Vienna on top of father's throne. She giggled and crawled trying to get back down to the floor.

Lumuhod ako para bantayan siya. She's still a baby and so as Maeve, yet already way older than they both look. Such tragedy remained to be constant in our kind. A vampire child is an adult in a body of child and I never liked this way of our growth. It's been decades after her birth and she still barely grew an inch.

Vampires live longer than any being. We always had a part to play in every history that has been made, I'm sure we will be playing more in stories that is to come.

A beauty or a curse it is. Being trapped inside an endless body was either a gift or punishment of time. You can endure an everlasting wait, but living to be punished for all eternity is no gift.

"Father's not here." I shortly spoke.

"He left again, kuya? He'll ask for help again to some kingdom wouldn't he?" She points out. "He promised me to be here on this day! Nabasag na ang mga itlog!"

Maeve on the other hand, choose to be a child, and remained to have mind of a child even if her mind's fully aware of many things now. Para sa anong rason? Hindi ko alam. I won't talk heart to heart talk her
